Firebug's New Road to the Gold Log

Thanks all – it is a goal of mine to do better each year at nationals, but this year I feel short, actually went back about 30 lbs. I will be back in the gym soon, but not soon enough for me. Having a medical procedure on Friday that will side line me for atleast a week or two. But then it will be a long focus for World’s - they are in Palm Springs Laurie, maybe you and TC could join us?

I will do one maybe two meets before World’s - North Americans in June and maybe one other. North Americans will be a test for October to see how my training is going. I figure I will get in 12 weeks before that meet and then another 12 weeks after.

Malinda

Congrats on the national record and thanks for sharing the details. Equipment sure is a pain when you lose weight. You did an amazing job.

Claire

Woohoo Malinda! Congrats on your Masters spot and thanks for sharing your info. Looking forward to your upcoming record- breaking events :).

Anna

sounds like you had a lot going against you with the weight loss, suit not fitting properly, coming back from bronchitis, and yes, especially being in your own hometown.

You still had a great total, you still inspire others to lift more, and your journey is going to be even more exciting to follow now!

Way to go!!!
The next master’s champion in the making.

And that my friend is what makes a Champion and one hell of a lifter! Its one thing to show up at a meet, ready to lift, no problems with equipment, no competition, no pressure…but YOU were at Nationals with the best of the best, with equipment issues, with being sick prior to the meet, etc. and you still kicked A**!!

I’m very proud of you, we all are!
G

Great work Malinda. You done good your an inspirations for sure. Keep kickin butt

Phill

Thank you to every one.

Phill – where have ya been? Missed ya.

Thanks G, Biggjames, Anna, C, CVB, Plantlady, SickPuppy, Mod Laurie and anyone else I might have missed(think I got you all tho). It was a rough training cycle and I am already working on my next one. I have just about 12 weeks til the next meet and then another 12 after it to the next one again…

Back to the gym as soon as I can. Right now it it time for chocolate, pizza and ice cream…before the diet hits again.

Malinda

LOL Nice enjoy the post meet indulgence and get back on the horse.

Me Ive been around just pretty darn crazy busy with life and all the changes. Still training hard though and have competed a few times in both strongman and PLing since I blew my Bicep nearly a year ago. Its going well looking to do more in the near future. I think for now with an emphasis on PLing.

MY DL is coming along VERY well scratching the door on the 700lb barrier. I pulled 675 with some left in the tank about a month ago. Really need to get my pressing out of the toilet and squat as well.

Other then that just moved again, LOL, this time to Arizona. Doing some work with Charles Staley and the team. I just hosted a strongman comp in Kansas before I left and raised over $2000 for an American Cancer Society camp for children. Hit the local media a LOT. I had several new paper interviews, the local CBS TV affiliate, radio. There were three NAS records in the DL set at the event I hosted. Al of it went very well. Been showing my art as well. Just staying super busy and out of trouble.

Again Awesome progress, great job on the met keep it up and keep in touch.

Malinda, what are the dates in October? We might just have to make the drive to Palm Springs. I’d love to see you compete!

How nice to see Phill back!!!

Thanks for the Happy Birthday’s all. I think I am actually celebrating tonight or tomorrow – since my actual birthday was the day of my medical procedure. Not much celebrating going on while on percocet…

Sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday, hope the day wasn’t too bad and the medical procedure well well. Glad to hear you celebrated the day later though.
