Finish What You Started

Things that make you go, WTF…

I try so hard not to stare and then I find myself mouth agape thinking ‘wtf are they doing?!’ (in reference to the trainers training people at my gym)

5x5
V-grip pulldowns-105
Incline BB bench- 85

5x5
cable row(with the rope attachment)- 95
see saw press- 35

3x10
pushups
close grip press- tri’s feel like jelly!

3x10
lat raises- 15s for 5 reps 10s for 5 reps
hammer curls- 30s@5 reps 25s@5 reps

I saw forearm veins!!

Ball rollouts, 3x10- got in a dudes way and I said, sorry I’ll move! And I overheard him tell his buddy that the view was getting better  That was precious.

…I have tennis elbow and it sucks…theres no way to avoid it, grr…I’ve been taking my fish oil and old people joint meds faithfully though. When I wake in the morning I’m stiff all over, especially my back.

I’ve taken St. Johns Wort. Felt better while doing so, but it’s always hard to tell with such herbs whether it’s just the power of believing you’re being helped. Fish oil. Decent doses also stave off depression.

Uhm, yeah I say the same things about the trainers in my gym. Too many WTF moments to list out here though.

Yay for vascularity and muscularity.

Heh, compliments like that are nice. Did he say it so that you can hear, or was he trying to be quiet and not let you know?
Ugh, sorry to hear about the elbow and joints :frowning:

that comment was darn precious!

So glad there aren’t any trainers at my gym.

Awesome MPs, Betty!! Are you liking the body splits instead of the total body workouts?

If wives are throwing parties when their husbands leave, I think it’s time to get a divorce!

It was cute…
I had my headphones in so he said it loud enough thinking I couldn’t hear him.Kinda makes me wonder what other comments I’ve missed. Then again, maybe not.
I was getting a chunk of cardio in on the bike next to the stair climber…and out of the corner of my eye I can see this dude staring down each and every girl that walked by like he was hungry for meat. I caught myself staring too wondering what he was thinking…
Well, he’d start at there face and look away if it wasn’t attractive to him? I dunno. I felt funny as I got off the bike and walked toward the restroom. eek…

The director/trainer lady sent out a letter thanking all of us for our hard work, and I got described as ‘having amazing strength.’
awww, I try…
But Im not that strong! Maybe compared to the average girl who doesn’t train. Still felt nice.
I guess I have a rep to uphold now. And she is going to send clients my way who are interested in that(strength) No pressure Betty!

Hey Grn- Thanks!

Ya, my hubby has been deployed with guys who get “dear John,” letters in the mail saying it’s over. One guy even got a video tape recording of his wife getting it on with another dude.

I’m on my OFP right now. Decided to go for 2 legs days+ 1 upper body day…ultimately I’d like 2 upper+ 2 lower…but it’s hard to sneak in that 4th day. I’m just going with it, you know? The goal right now is to maintain strength while dieting.

^That’s awful.

edit: the vid and letters are awful. The strenght comment is great  good for you MIM.

Love it! Go get 'em girl!

MD I love your taste in music. I have every track you linked.

I would do more upper work and hit more intensity on the lower body days. Females tend to be more lower body dominate and need more upper work. This is just my opinion, but I see it all the time. I don’t really know if you are a powerlifter or just a strong lady, but I would switch it around unless you feel you are strong enough in the upper body. good work though, You work your ass off.

BB

^ smart thinking Big Bencher - i always think i’m overdoing it on the upper body work, but its true, my lower body is stupidly stronger than my upper…

HAH MiM! Love the commentary from the gym goers - you are sexy and strong! Why wouldn’t people love watching you.

And congrats on the positive commentary from the gym staff! Just goes to show what a great influence you are in the weight room

N- ya, there is a whole subculture of military wives that I am oblivious to. But thats fine. I just do my best and represent my hubby in a positive way just as he does for me. All the others can kiss my pa-tooty.

Thanks Lil P.- I will do my best to be a good example and maybe more will follow.

BB- hey, thanks for dropping in. Nope, not a PL’er…I get what your saying. To be honest, I’ve been doing total body stuff for so long(don’t hurt me!!) and Im only now just mixing it up. I did a couple rounds of 5/3/1 at the beginning of this year and enjoyed it though…maybe I’ll go back to that at some point. My goal right now is still fat loss(what its been FOREVER it seems) after that, who knows!! I just want to keep my strength and get over time get stronger, at least for my body weight. oh and look hot while doing it

Maschy!! I hope to be a good influence. I’d rather get results from doing the basics rather than just instructing people to do retarded ass stuff that I myself haven’t even done. The ‘popular,’ trainer at my gym now has her own ‘method.’ And then the other three female trainers kind of gank off her and use the retardedness on there own clients. The stupidity is spreading like wild fire!!

You are getting super strong there, lady - 85lb Military press is wow.
And agree, simple is best. It winds me up when you get women doing dumbell raises whilst stood on a frickin’ bosu ball. WTF!!!

Thanks Cal…which is weird, cause I haven’t been trying to get strong! I didn’t even warm up either…it was at the end of my workout and just wanted to see if I could

Hey, you should move here so we can start our own gym! I know you’ll be setting a good example over there…it’s hard selling women on the basics though!

Of course you’re that strong. Come to my gym and you’ll be Superwoman.
I love when the PTs at my gym give me compliments like that. It makes me smile when broad, 6 foot guys say that little ol’ 5 foot me is strong. Heh.

Serious, MiM, I want to be as strong as you when I grow up!

well, your almost there and you just started!!

To give myself some credit, training for strength is still fairly new to me and I’ve been at this fat loss thing for so long. It’s a delicate dance…

Puke worthy training:

circuit-

rack pulls 5x5x225
MP- 5x5x75
inverted rows- 5x8
pushups- 5x8
ball jackknife- 5x10(knees to the bench, no cheating!)

rest 1 minute, repeat!

static lunges- 3x8x75
seated leg curl- 3x8x75
tricep pressdown2x20.then reverse grip-2x20(so you do 20, then 20…ya, feel the burn!!)

Done in 45 minutes…then I went to Target really forgetting why I was even going. Oh ya. I’ve been buying the kids winter cloths slowly but surely. And I had to get the hubby some snacks to send with his package tomorrow…

Its refeed day…but Im not even hungry or craving anything. Just a dieting machine. I did all that this morning with no food.

So my brain hatched an idea.
I think it sounds pretty awesome if I can come up with a good proposal. I was thinking of starting up a ‘starting strength,’ group clinic type thing, ala Mark Ripptoe. I’d even email the guy to make sure it was ok! There would be a sign up sheet and I would take groups of 3-5 at a time and meet with them 2-3x a week…

Why not??! I know I’m not the strongest I could be, but I’m good at instructing. I’d spend a couple months after dieting really honing in on the techniques and building up strength again before starting.

That’s a great idea MiM! Where do I sign up?
