Finish What You Started

EEk, I just emailed my boss lady about it!

I concur, that is an awesome idea.
I hope she likes your proposal, we need more classes like that in the gyms.

ya, I’ve never hear of anything like that.

I mean, they have group classes for everything else there…I guess the only concern would be liability?

And would I have to a ‘specialist,’ or certified in strength?

Whatever happens, I need to take more advantage of the oppurtunity that was given to me to even be a trainer there to begin with. She didn’t have to pick me but she did.
It’s time to dust myself off and really put a whole heart-ed effort into this.

I guess since I have the rep now, I might as well train for it… YAY!! Hmmm, strongman comp first??

Well you do have a rep now that must be maintained.
Liability might be a concern, maybe availability of equipment and varying fitness levels. However, they’re not things that can’t be worked around.
Nothing’s lost in trying.

Here’s an idea; you give the class some kind of pretty, foo-foo name so that the 2-hour-on-Treadmill females will join the class, then BAM! “Pick up that 50 lb BB and do curls NOW!”

Just an idea.

Boss lady says my idea sounds good and she wants to meet n discuss…eeek!

Yay yay!
Congrats MiM, moving on up!

That’s great MiM! Good luck with that, as I’m sure it’ll be a promising opportunity for you. Go YOU!

now I just kinda have to figure out how to make it all work…maybe I shoulda done that first before opening my mouth, haha.

Awesome! I’m sure you’ll figure everything out!

just saying hai.

I like your plan.

Hai back!

Thanks!

I guess the first thing I am going to do is finish up dieting and then work on my skillz( was going to do that regardless). And also talk to the boss lady further…
I have no idea what qualifies me to do this. I’ve never heard of something like this in a commercial gym.

But if it takes off, that would be awesome! Who knows what will happen! I could be famous…

I just don’t want to get made fun of by any of the PL’ers or anyone that actually knows what they are doing there, haha. Maybe they can observe and make sure I’m teaching/doing properly?

Hiya MiM,
Going back to your mention of St. John’s Wort, I thought I’d just add my 2 cents. I’ve been struggling with chronic depression since I was eight years old, and I’ve tried a lot of different things-I started out on SJW actually. It helps a lot with short term depression/mood swings, but it has been known to raise blood pressure and cause insomnia-my dad experienced both when he was taking it. His BP dropped ten points after he stopped taking it. Just food for thought.

Another good herbal supp is 5-HTP, which I took for a year or so-it’s a precursor to serotonin, was more effective for me and has no side effects that I know of, but it takes a little longer to build up to full effects. It’s a good one for increasing overall feelings of wellness in the long term. It is also implicated in the easing of migraines.
I’m now on Lexapro, which is a newer RX that is very “clean”–little to no side effects, I’m very happy with it.

Hope this helps!
I think your business idea is stellar :*)

Thanks…I think the mood has stabilized. Just soldiering on from here on out!

Ooh, do report back on your meeting. Hope it goes well! (It is a great idea).

Thanks Cal!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Yesterday took my son to race his ‘boat,’ for cub scouts. Normally they give you kits and you make something out of it that way. This year they decided that it would be made out of recycled stuff…I spent friday afternoon scouring for twigs to make the boat. It wasn’t going the way I had imagined. He ended up using a juicy juice box…I just cut the center out and poked a hole for the straw to go in…his ‘boat,’ finished 4th out of 20, LOL!!! And he got ‘best use of recycled materials.’

Today is clean the house this morning, laundry and then Art in the Park thing. Haven’t heard from the hubby in a few days…I’m assuming he was catching up on sleep and didn’t have a chance to make it to the computer place. He works nights, so when I’m up and getting ready for our day he is rolling out of bed getting ready for work. It’s 8.5 hrs ahead over there.

Diet is going well, btw…I don’t talk about it much here cause it’s boring.

Had a refeed on Thursday(nom nom) and took the kids to Red Robin after cub scouts and had a free meal of a lettuce wrapped hamburger and fries, mmmmm. I haven’t weighed in, but I don’t care to. I’ll take pics/measurements on Friday.

I’ll be brainstorming ideas for my new ‘class.’ Any ideas you all think of, feel free to throw them my way. If it goes my way I’ll have the help of one of the PL’er guys there as well…

‘Betty’s Basic Barbell.’

love the name girlie! just a thought, i would DEFINITELY have a “Strictly form only” tyoe of class at least 2x a month if not more…

So many people are intimidated by lifting heavy because they are afraid of hurting themselves. If you are constantly giving small seminars on how to properly do the lifts, I am sure you will have a continuous stream of newbs always trickling in…

On that note, holding a seminar on “Dispelling Lifting Heavy Myths” or something of that effect to shoot down all of the unwarranted fears of ladies getting Hyouuuge overnight would probably help lift the shadow off what you are doing as well…

Just some thoughts…if you would send me brownies I would give you a million ideas!

HOLY. SHIT.

I have proof…

Alpha, mmmmmmm brownies…

Thanks for the ideas.Good ones at that!
But as you can see from above, I don’t think I’m going to get very far, lol…

I refuse to conform though. Told ya I was at the wrong gym!

Wooooww that was scary. Your gym could definitely use your help!
