I don’t usual;y like to speak up in terms of programs and such - there are better educated people in our gang but personally I’ll do a breakdown that ramps up to close to my max.
bench 95 - 1x12 warm up (I need to add weight to my warmup)
115 1x8
125 1x5
135 1x3
145 1x1
I’ve read somewhere to aim for 20 reps total. Warm up set and then anything for less than 5 reps is my way of looking at strength. 5x5 or 2x5,4,3,2,1.
don’t know if that makes sense MIM.sorry about that.
Oooh, a hair cut! Next time you should donate your tresses to “locks of love”. I would, but my hair grows so sloooow.
I also can’t speak for programs b/c I’m a newb. But I stuck with Starr’s 5x5 and that did wonders for me. But I’m a square, so 5x5 appealed to me - literally. Plus I don’t like pulling singles.
I love that you’re getting back on the heave lifting program - something different might be a good change for you. Altho who am I going to steal my complexes/circuits from?!
In high school I had hair as long as yours is right now. Except really curly and frizzy and I looked like Cousin It.
So, my sister said “hey, sit down right here and watch TV while I trim off the split ends.” So, I did. When I stood up, I had shoulder-length hair! Lotta love sisters.
It looks cute.
For strength training, I’ve been doing 5/3/1. I like it because its easy to follow the set/rep scheme and you can get creative with accessory stuff.
accessories.
vary from this but generally it really looks like that and has been working well for me. I don’t get excited over programs and I just push it as hard as I can everytime and back off when it’s a not so good day.
Strangely empty in the weight training portion of the gym, but wouldn’t you know allll the cardio machines were occupied.
I was tag-teamed by two of the PT’s there trying to talk me into getting spin certified…I glanced toward the barbell on the floor which was loaded with 225 at that moment, and I wanted to say, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’ But just did my usual nod n smile instead.
I think I’m over PT’ing. I haven’t said anything because then I’d have to pay for my membership. Right now it’s free because I ‘work,’ there.
But I can’t compete with the likes of db press/flutter kick combos…it’s sickening.

This.
I’ve done 1 spin class in my life and will never, EVER, do that shit again! I couldn’t walk right for days after that thing…the seats on that bike VIOLATED ME!
Don’t stop your PT gig, if for no other reason than free gym membership!
