Hey Veggie, is the k-tape application a science in itself, meaning special techniques and stuff that you learn over time? Or is there a website, or book, or something that explains it enough to give someone the general idea of how/where/when to apply it?
If the pictures aren’t enough to love you, I gotta add learning new things to the list.
I must try those DLs.
Walking lunges are cardio yo, I love 'em too, so many reasons why.
I’d rather shop for gym clothes than anything else really, I don’t know why. I used to be so girly, caring about skinny jeans and pumps and tight dresses and while I still like those, I go gah-gah over a hawt sports bra.
Glad to see some peeps considering the suitcase deadlifts. They’re awesome if you have one side weaker than another, and pretty much fry literally one side of your body. Keep your body upright as best as you can.
Kinesio taping is the shit, it worked wonders when I was rehabbing my broken ankles.
Veggie, I don’t think you have blood running through your veins, I would argue you have hydraulic fluid.
Thanks Max! I had fun w/ the suitcase DL. Crazy cursing fun!
Ink- Kinesiotaping is, IMO, an art and a science… just like everything else in my field. You have to understand how and why it works and learn the basic techniques, but then you can start trying different stuff to address whatever problem you’re faced with. There are a bunch of products on the market, but here is the site for the products we use. Lots of good, interesting info for consumers and professionals alike.
Nikki- I know what you mean. Shopping for gym clothes is fun. But I never try shit on and I got burned. I bought a top and it is WAY too long. Kept riding up when I was squatting last night. I actually went back to the locker room and put the tank that I wore to the office back on… Oh well:(
Stretchers: 5x6x60 (I had to use a rope handle 'cause someone was using the one and only CG handle. Interesting difference, required more dynamic stabilization in the arms. At least that’s what it felt like…)
HS Iso pulldown, UH: 3x8x110
Dips: 1x8xbw, 1x7xbw, 1x8x,bw
BB standing OH tri ext: 3x10x51
Farmers walks: 5x~40 ft w/70 lb DB (Those freaking killed me! There was an additional attempt in there where I only made it about 15 ft, so almost 5 and 1/2 “sets”.)
As you can see, I have bagged the biceps work yet again. I felt like they got some work, especially on the UH pulldowns. They’re vanity muscles anyway, right? Oh wait, I am pretty vain… Whatever, I do what I do. I’ll hit them on Saturday.
Feeling good and hoping for a good night’s rest. I’m planning to go train on my siesta/lunch break tomorrow because our afternoon schedule is jam-packed and I anticipate a late night at the office. If I don’t sleep well, then I need my break to take a nap. We’ll see what happens…
Glad to hear the Spidertech is working out for you! I’m a provider as well and am involved with the company. All the lines have hypoallergenic acrylic adhesive and they’ve recently debuted some X,Y, and I strips in addition to the gentle which work well for alot of things.
Curious if you are using anything on your right glute region, say, a hip spider or a groin spider angled with the fingers on the glutes for facilitation purposes. I’m assuming the hammie was a neurosensory application?
YES! SO COOL to have somebody who can talk chiro geek stuff w/me. Yes, trying to increase recruitment in the left post chain. Not using anything on the right side for now. I like the groin on glute idea. That is what I love about taping… the possibilities are endless!
I volunteer to K-tape your posterior chain next time!
My chiro (also my boss) taped up my recent broken wrist repeatedly, I never casted it. Just used the tape and a brace. K-tape is the shiz.
Also, you are gorgeous and an inspiration! Strong work in here. I’m following just to see what crazy exercises you’re doing next. That and progress/k-tape pics.
And yeah, those DB Bench rows are strong! I assume these are like Kroc rows?
Another dipper eh? These kill my elbows, but maybe I should try them again.
This is a stupid question, but can you get dependent on taping things up? I feel like I’m so scared of getting dependent on things like that, like when I play soccer I try not to tape up ankles and stuff unless its absolutely necessary. Or maybe kino tape is a completely different animal…

Now I’ve got try the suitcase DL. Nice vid Max. Saved me some google time. Veggie - Love your avi. I think you’ve got everybody at Tnation completely twitter-pated.
I know you like DB farmer’s walks. I’m doing them with 40 pounders and they are killing my palms and I wear gloves! I’m trying to strengthen my grip for my pull-ups. I don’t know how you can manage the 60s. Sheesh.
Most Major- Thanks! You can tape me anytime you want. Your place or mine?
Ink- Yeah, my mind was in clinical mode. Wasn’t thinking when I wrote that. Lol.
Masch- Thanks ma! No questions are stupid. This tape is different from athletic tape. My take on it is this: In a nutshell, athletic tape is usually applied to create stiffness and stability externally by restricting motion in the taped joint. Kinesiotape actually enhances the movement of a joint by helping to create the proper support for it via increasing or modifying the way that the muscles “act” in relation to said joint/structure. Remember, muscles move/stabilize/support joints, but nerves control muscles. (That’s a little oversimplified, but you get the picture.) K-tape taps into your nervous system to change muscle memory, promote healing, etc. There are probably tons of better explanations out there than that. But as to your specific question about dependence, when used in our office k-tape is a tool to prod the body back to balance. Once you achieve that, let the body do it’s thing.
Kimba- Good idea, but I am no seamstress. Might have to check into that.
Powerpuff- Thanks hon. Those farmers walks are brutal, which is probably why I like 'em. Oh, and I have actually worked up to 70’s. My grip is coming along. I don’t wear gloves. My hands have always been a wreck, so there’s no point. Plus I like to “feel” the weight directly. Just my preference.

What? Groins? Glutes? And K-Tape? You are a saucy one aren’t you
I wasn’t as well-rested as I could have been and I was at the office longer than I expected this morning, but I still opted for the gym during my break. I had about 45 mins and today would be chest/shoulders. I warmed up a little with my tubing, but honestly I was pretty loose after working a few hours. I started w/bench… then I remembered why I never bench at that gym. Because their benches suck. The pegs are too high or to low for me to comfortably rack/unrack.
BP: 1x5xbar, 1x5x95
Moved on to play w/some of the HS stuff, but I can never adjust the chest equipment to be anything like a bench. Did some random sets. I had already decided to save shoulder work for another day. So here’s what I did.
Decline pushups off of a box, maybe 24-30" (not sure): 5x10
Medicine ball pushups, ball under each hand: 8x8
Pushups: 3x10
Pushups w/swimming legs: 2x10
Lastly, I felt compelled to try the spiderman pushups that were in the vid on Frenchie’s log. I did 6 before I decided that enough was enough.
My brain is a little fried from work, but I think that is 170 total.
It was a fun change of pace. Thankfully, I see my acupuncturist tomorrow. I expect to be pretty sore.
OMG! I am a pushup hoe! I love trying new pushup variations. What are pushups with swimming legs?!
Love spider mans too
Ugh! Good for you for getting into the gym despite a tough day at work and low energy. And even better for getting it in! You are a far, far better woman than I.

You know, lift one leg off the floor for each rep. IDK what the real name is, so I try to be descriptive.
