Fine-Tuning the Machine & Tacking on the Vanity Plates

wow!!! You are a stunner!! I love your legs!! and … everything else!

Looking good veg! Strong arms! Love it!

Nice training mama.

mainie, brute, masch- Thanks for your kind words and thanks for stopping in.

So I ended up bagging my Wed night training because I was stuck @ the office til quarter to 9 last night. Sometimes it happens. Also I was feeling a little fuzzy and got adjusted twice during the day, once in morning and again @ about 8 pm. One of the benefits of my job: if my boss or I are feeling something we just patch each other up and march onward.

Anyway, feeling much better this morning after a good night’s rest. Today is my day off, so I’m getting ready to go lift at gym #2 (the one w/the s&m neck machine.) I’m hoping to take a ride on the new leg press that they have, just to check it out. Afterwards I’m going to lay in the sauna for a bit and then go get some NMT. Depending on how I feel, I might go to gym #1 and do the stuff that I skipped last night. We shall see…

Fantastic arms! I’m so envious. I think I need to include some direct arm work…

Thanks Cal. I think you were reading my log while I was reading yours. LOL. I’m really excited to try out that hypoallergenic tape so I can let you know how it goes. That might be a good option for your elbow, especially if you are going to add some direct arm work into your training. It can also be used for performance enhancement/increased muscle activation. I’m thinking about having my boss tape one of my hammies tomorrow as an experiment to help balance my hip drive while squatting/DL. I’ll keep you posted!

Awesome arms.

You used to be a gymnast? Is that your “primary” athletic background?

Don’t have any fun on the S&M neck machine without me.

Today’s training/legs

Warm up: 2x10 wall squats, 2x10 spiderman crawls

FS: 1x5xbar, 1x5x95, 2x5x105, 1x5x115, 1x5x125, 1x5x135, 1x5x145, 1x3x155, 165 single (PR)

Feeling pretty good after the fs, so I went over to play w/that new leg press. Verdict: Better than the old one, but still not fan-fucking-tastic. The locking mechanism is a little sketchy. After checking it out thoroughly, I decided to move on…

RDL: 1x5x135, 2x5x185

DL stance experimentation: Did several sets (like 7 or 8) of 5x135 back and forth from traditional to sumo. I always pull sumo, but I wanted to try to get a feel for the traditional stance. I pulled some singles @ 185, 225 too. I think that I am better off sumo anyway.

Hack Squat: 1x5x90, 1x5x180, 1x5x230

Joe Trainer came over to ask me if I was a competitive PL when I went over to the hack squat. He proceeded to talk to me through the 3 sets. Whatever. I gave him my opinion on the new equipment that they have, etc. Hit the sauna, shower, went to get my massage. Afterwards I went to the grocery. I live with my gran and she had asked me to buy her a chuck roast. Y’all know that veggie has ZERO experience buying cuts of meat. I guess that I was picturing a pot roast in my head, so I asked some guy which one was a chuck roast. He told me “I don’t know, it’s all just beef to me.” I asked an old lady, she told me to go ask the guy at the butcher counter. I waited and finally asked the butcher guy and he not only showed me which one, he proceeded to try to explain the difference between the chuck roast and the round roast…

Wow that is a lot of uneducated folks when it comes to cuts of meat, with you it makes sense I get that. But if you are standing at the meat section and going to buy some beef (kind of pricey too) you best be knowing what you buying, dont ya think? Guess that is just me though & I think being educated about what you purchase is important. Those other people should have asked the butcher for help, then they could have got the info he was trying to hand out to you.

Oh btw great FS, that thar is some real nice work on them legs

very nice SF PR Veggie!

you did it for your gran, that’s all that counts.

Nice PR!
I grew up with foodies so I know my cuts of meat. I’m not very domestic, but some people really don’t know ANYTHING about cooking or housekeeping.

Yeah, I guess that you could say that. My mom put me in classes before I was 3. Quit around 12. Moved to cheerleading, etc.

So I was feeling good and decided to do a make-up session tonight since I didn’t get there last night.

Upper: chest/shoulders

Bradford presses to warm up w/bar

BP: 3x8x85 nice slow negatives

DB fly: 3x8x25’s

Upright row: 1x10x56, 2x8x66 (they have some non-standard ez bars, I have weighed them)

Standing one arm MP: 3x8x30 each arm

OH DB carry complex w/30’s: one arm (each side), cross (each side), both arms. 5 carries, ~100 ft each, no breaks. I only made it ~70 ft w/them OH on the last one. That complex almost killed me! Super fun though.

Lateral raises, thumbs up: 3x6x20’s

Bent over cable rear delts: 3x8x30? each arm

Felt guilty for skipping core work after my leg training this week, so… wipers w/swiss ball 2x10, jandas 1x50, some swiss ball thingies where you pass the ball from feet to hands. I did a few handstands after this. Was trying to get psyched up to try a front walkover. Too many people around. Did some high kicks for a few min. Finally tried one but chickened out as I started to kick over so it turned into handstand into full-wheel. I tried (not sure how successfully) to make it look like that’s what I meant to do. You know, hung out in full-wheel and stretched abs.

Done

! jealousy has entered the room via me. did you say you’re a chiropractor? sorry if you mentioned it earlier and i didn’t pick it up.

oh boy. i would LOVE to get manipulated during/after work…oh my goawd

I’m not a chiro (yet). I work w/one. I have a lotta skills though. My plan is to someday be able to finish school and get my license. For now I’m just an over-educated (way too much knowledge of org chem, a&p, physics, etc) bodyworker/assistant. We work like a two-headed monster so he has taught me a ton of technique stuff, but I can’t (legally) adjust anybody. We work on each other out of necessity because bending over, twisting, lifting, climbing on the table to do stuff (in my case-I’m short) can really fuck w/our bodies. In addition, we have tons (no pun intended) of 250+ lb patients. Training really makes me more capable/efficient at my job.

Good for you for making a go at the front walkover. It sounds like you have a strong bridge and good flexibility–you’ve still got it I’m sure. But, I very much understand the mental challenge. I’ve been practicing them for awhile now, but still, the first one of every set takes a little leap of faith.

Thanks for the encouragement Nadia. I was thinking of your vid when I was trying to muster the courage. When the weather gets nicer I’ll do them outside on the grass… just like when I was 5.

that’s awesome!

I would love some bodywork, too. Doing what I can with my roller / softball but I’m sure it doesn’t even come close to what some hands on help could do. One day, sigh. Good on you for giving front walkovers a go.

I couldn’t do a handstand into a full wheel. I actually can’t do a full wheel - years of hunching over a computer has left me with no extension in my t-spine. It is improving though, thanks to the gymnastics.

Good luck with your studies. The woman I go to for ART is also a chiro and she’s brilliant (she’ll adjust me if I need it, even though I’m not paying to be cracked). There are a lot of shitty chiros around, though. I went to one down the road and after being made to wait past my appointment time, he basically cracked my neck, kicked me in the arse and took my money. It was like being mugged.
