Fine-Tuning the Machine & Tacking on the Vanity Plates

metallica ftw~

I’m sure you have some warrior blood in you little one!

AND she has cheap Nuvarings for me![/quote]

Buckeye told me to let you know that she has some Loestrin FE that you can have for free if you come down and teach her your Jedi hamstring secrets.

Now I want some eggy cheesy muffins my MIL taught me to make…NOM!!

grats on your last session…killer one at that…

What is it with all these breakups lately? Shit.

Great GVT session! I’ve been looking at either GVT (not right now, but soon) or something else I’ve thought of. Not sure which route I want to take: experimentation or application of something many have done with success? Hmm. And I agree with Beast: inspiring physique and gym effort. All bin’ness.

Had some great Vietnamese today and ice coffee. Going to gym tonight with all this caffeine.

You’re the oldest, aren’t you? I got a younger brother and sister.

And how often do you have acupuncture done? I know a good one and want to go every 2-3 weeks, massage every 4 weeks. Haven’t done either yet. Need a routine that recharges me and I’m thinking that combo might be it.

N8tive- Thanks for that boost earlier. I read it right before I left for the gym. You were right. I totally got it!

Edgy- Glad to live up to warrior greatness. That song came up during all those pushups at the end of my session. Seemed very appropriate.

Stronghold- I’m easy. What can I say? And I’d teach the Jedi hamstring secrets to BG any day. For nothing. Well, maybe food

MiM- Do share MIL’s eggy cheesy muffin recipe. Sounds yummy.

Ponce- GVT is worth a try. I really like it. The breakup has been a long time coming. FWIW it is not ‘officially’ over. I refuse to do that via email and we hardly see each other. I am the oldest. Younger sister and brother. How did you know that? I go for acupuncture every 2 weeks unless I need more. This week was an extra since I’ve been having a problem. I get massage/bodywork more sporadically. And I get adjusted whenever I need it. My boss and I work on each other whenever-- sometimes once a week, other times 2-3 times/day. Depends.

Physical evidence of the cupping is minimal. But my back feels better than it has in almost 3 weeks. Hope I don’t fuck it up at the office tomorrow. Friday’s are no-holds-barred and I know that a couple of the big 'uns are on the schedule. Always seems like they are at the end of the day… what gives??

There’s usually no issue finding food around here. We likes ta eat. I do most of the cooking, but being that I wish MY hamstrings looked like that, I’m willing to accommodate.

Veggie - Nice thickness to your back up there. Wolf Whistle!! Glad you ended your last GVT session feeling great too! Hey I assume that GVT would not be the recommended thing for a newb like myself, but I haven’t studied it. What do you think about someone in their first year? Did you buy a book? Research GVT online?

Nice back. Very nice.

nuvaring… glad you like it, makes me shudder. even years later.

(ParaGard ftw)

indeed your looking thick- nice work.
way to kill the GVT good job.

I should re-license and find a chiro to work with :stuck_out_tongue:

so jealous of your work situation, free adjustments.
I have a decent chiro who is reasonable but hard to book.
had a very good trade situation with someone but she is at rolfing school

Glad that I could help ya out!! You rocked it, I knew you could

Your back looks beautiful Veg!! All those muscles are just poppin’!

Excellent MPing and BPing - killing it!

Veggie - lovin’ the training your doing, and your hammy development makes perfect sense. By working them as both knee flexors AND hip extensors, you are getting the best of all worlds.

Brains, brawn, and badassery… nom nom nom…

Stronghold- I’ll keep you and BG in mind if I’m ever down your way. Make sure you have kale.

Puff- Yeah GVT is probably better once you’ve been training for a while. I just did online research and tweaked it for my own purposes.

Cal- Thanks.

CBear- I was extremely skeptical re: Nuvaring. Went on it for therapeutic purposes. Stayed on it 'cause it doesn’t seem to effect me and I can trick Mother Nature for my own convenience.

kmcnyc- Thanks. Very happy with my work situation. It suits me and I get to trade with my boss. His chiro is an hr away so I do what I can for him and he keeps me plumb.

N8tive- Yes, thanks again chica!

Masch- Thanks. All that volume felt awesome.

Max- Yeah, training has been great. GVT was awesome again but now it is over. I cannot take full credit for my hammies. Got them from my dad. I’ve just upgraded them over the years.

Yesterday was a rest day. I’ve been out of sorts from shit in the rest of my life. Not eating much-- I have a really hard time with that when I’m stressed. After a particularly upsetting phone conversation during my lunch break I was in a state. Went back to the office to plow through the afternoon schedule so that I could go crawl in a hole after work. Forced myself to eat some kale and pepitas in the office closet.

BUT my first patient in the afternoon was our oldest patient. He’ll be 97 in July. Such a cool guy. He always makes me smile. Great attitude which has to be part of why he’s still kicking. His back has been flukey and he told me that I needed to get him fixed up for a big croquet tourney in June. You gotta love that. People like him are why I do what I do.

My boss’s wife invited me to dinner. She’s a Jewish mother, so I figured that I should accept because I needed someone to get me to eat and I love hanging out with them anyway. We drank Laphroaig and some beers. Ate tomato pie and come various indian leftovers from my boss’s aryuvedic cleanse diet. My boss gave me a nice massage out in their sleeping porch and I worked on his wife’s bum ankle and taped her in hopes that she could do a 62 mile training ride that she had planned for today. All was good.

I slept a lot last night and again today. Went to the gym tonight. Supposed to be deloading which to me means do what I feel like.

Lower ‘deload’

Warmup: wall squats, spiderman crawls, peacock poses, some static femur head stretches. My left hip was acting weird.

Squats: bar x 5, 95 x 5 x 2, 115 x 5, 135 x 5, 155 x 5

DL: 185 x 2, 195 x 2, 205 x FAIL! Started stripping the bar, was pissed but did 135 x 10 for grins

FML, I made more attempts than I cared to count… My speed sucks. I got the bar moving at 205 but was having major issues off of the floor. I haven’t trained DLs in forever, so I guess that I need to put in the time to get it back. I also could probably use some work on my technique. When I make the time to train with the coach that is on the agenda, amongst other things. Moved on.

GM: 115 x 5, 125 x 5, 135 x 3

DB walking lunges w/45’s: 3 x 10

Done

I’m bored and I slept entirely too much earlier today, so now I’m awake.

Took some pics.

I’ve also been reading poetry today.

Quicksand Years by Walt Whitman

Quicksand years that whirl me I know not whither,
Your schemes, politics, fail, lines give way, substances mock and elude me,
Only the theme I sing, the great and strong-possess’d soul, eludes not,
One’s-self must never give way–that is the final substance–that
out of all is sure,
Out of politics, triumphs, battles, life, what at last finally remains?
When shows break up what but One’s-Self is sure?

Sorry to hear about your distressing day. I was on one yesterday. It seems to be going around.
Sucks when training doesn’t go as planned either. It’s usually going to make me feel good, even when my day is lame. Your “deload” still looks heavy to me!

Look at the muscle on those legs! You do have some hammies that really give them balance.

Enjoyed the Whitman. I love me some poetry too - both reading and writing a bit. I kept a little volume of Keats on my nightstand for a long time. If you haven’t seen Bright Star, it will get you acquainted.

you haven’t lifted towards maximal weights in awhile right? Takes a bit to adjust to doing max effort pulls. You’ll get it. If you want some advice put up a vid

“…
There is earth
that never leaves your hands,
rain that never leaves
your bones. Words so old they are broken
from us, because they can only be
broken. They wil not
let go, because some love
is broken from love,
like stones
from stones,
rain from rain,
like the sea
from the sea.”

yep. whitman is the shit.

(had to bring a bit of hillbilly in here to break up the awesome. its my M.O.)
