That makes me laugh. Not a country boy, eh?
Technically it’s a brand of mowers. But us simple country folk use the term to mean essentially a tractor mowed area. It’s a very rough cut, not like you’d see on a lawn.
That could work if there aren’t any big ruts or holes in the field. The worst thing that could happen (I think) is to be pushing with the low handles, hit a rut, and face plant into the tube steel frame.

You’d also probably need cleats of some kind.
I don’t know man. I have used a prowler plenty. I really don’t think you could use it in a bush hogged field. The grass isn’t cut very low like with regular lawn mowing and the way the grass is folded over, I could see it getting caught up on the prowler.

But I also don’t know if gravel would be a good option. A sled might be a better option because it has a bigger base to slide over the grass/gravel.

If you use stuff on EFS like the Q&A, read the articles, stare at Pegg’s pictures all day, just pay the few bucks extra for getting one from them, you might have to wait a month or so extra to be able to afford it, but support a company that gives away so much good info.
I AM pretty good looking. Appreciate you guys supporting EFS too.

F-me, I would not want to push a powered mower with wheels on that shit, let alone a prowler.

I’m actually about to order some db’s and bumper plates from 'em. Not sure where they are in Texas but hopefully they’re close enough that it cuts down my shipping costs, haha.
Just make sure they have insurance. And some originality!

Maybe not, like I said I have no experience with bush hogging like the farm boys on here. I think you could push a prowler on gravel if it was packed and level. If there are ruts and holes, or if its pretty loose, you’re fucked. A sled might travel better over the gravel but that’s a totally different training tool.

If it were me, I would save the money and buy a house somewhere in civilization. Indoor plumbing and 'lectricity sure are nice;)

I have 600 acres, a nice house, pay very little in rent, a gym in my basement, no traffic, a river, a small lake with good fishing (though I’m not a big fisherman), a huge garden

and one hell of view from my porch. You can have your “civilization”.

It’s about a half mile to my mailbox though, that is a pane.

I ended up buying a texas powerbar instead.

Hahaha. Yea, I just broke the last bucket pulling water out of the well for our baths. Luckily Ma hasn’t been doing any gardening lately and Lou Ann and Johnny Boy left 3 days ago for the store. The water has been much cleaner with only me, Pa, Ma, Uncle Wally, and Cletus recycling the bath water.

I recommended the sled because I don’t think the prowler is a great option in this situation. If he has to bush hog fields I doubt he has the fine gravel you are used to. Most likely large pieces specifically designed to break ankles. Believe me, I know the difference between prowler and sled. I have been trying to find a way to construct prowler low/hi handles on a sled…

I push my full size prowler in grass and god damn does it suck when you hit a rut, not only do you have to try not to eat the bar, but then usually you have to pull/list the bastard out and loose are momentum. hahaha.

Econo Prowler ordered.
