Finally Saw Some Funny Gym Stuff

Are you supposed to face the pads in a hack squat machine for any reason? like, laying down and putting paper towels on the headrest for … um… drool? No clue. It was a chain but one on the far end of town I never go to.

It just looked wrong but only slightly dangerous so I got a pic of him mid set and if this isnt some weird football drill Ill figure out how to post it for public derision. I was going to keep it to myself but then her didnt rerack the weight, so i figure thats like falling asleep with your shoes on and youre fair game for a big sharpie penis on your cheek.

I see squat rack curls and bad form deads pretty often, but never such a weird misuse of a machine.

And, hell no, I didnt offer him advice.

I’ve seen Dennis Wolf and Branden Ray do them in pictures in MD. Supposedly done for hamstring development sort of like a good morning. Not sure if the guy was doing them that way though.

Back in highschool, we called those ram squats, just a reverse hack squat. They were done on one of those heavy duty leg press/hack squat 2in1 deals.

I’ve seen pictures (I believe on DC forums) of dudes using hack squat machines for push presses, facing the pads, not in person though, have also seen a lift as described above intended for hams.

Some of you who don’t follow ACTUAL bodybuilding training should seriously avoid posting stuff on this forum. Isn’t there a “Wendler worship” thread with skinny fat powerlifter-wannabes hoping to total elite where you can conglomerate and make fun of weak BBers training while trading squat suit tips?

EDIT: Sorry, didn’t realize this was the “Get a Life forum”, but even so…
And I apologize for the outburst. Its just that I’ve had it with noobs trying to “understand” what you’re actually doing when you have worked something out by trial and error after a good deal of time. Back in the USA, I used an HS dip machine with elbows flared and grip wide as my primary chest movement for a long time…because it worked. I got seriously annoyed with skinny dweebs gathering around looking curiously and pointing and discussing when I did something that looked different. I also vaguely remember strangling an ex-fiancée who felt that having big muscles did not mean a person knew "HOW to perform an exercise correctly since the RIGHT way to do an exercise was determined by “exercise authorities with certifications, no matter how they looked like since they just CHOSE to look that way”. I feel that people should mind their own dumb shit when in a gym, unless someone behaves like a douche hogging a rack or bench.
Don’t give advice to anyone, don’t ask anyone for advice, at least that way no one feels emasculated to the point of becoming a youtube loser commenting on an advanced lifter’s form.

Perfectly legitimate used of the hack squat. I;ve seen it before. It’s funny that you thought it was funny when it’s not funny because it’s legit. Yeah. That kinda thing.

Also the op may have the common problem of focusing on lifting weight and exercises. BB training is about stimulating the muscle. Weight and exercise movement are secondary considerations. They are the means to the end.

wow arent we assuming a bit much about the OP here? So quick to judge. Im sorry Im not into ACTUAL bodybuilding enough to post on Get a Life lol.

You have to admit it looks retarded at first. I never thought of the RDL angle, but it makes sense, thus I left myself open to be corrected.
