So I’m at the gym today doing my squats. There’s 2 guys near the squat rack and I’m like…hey you guys usin that still? they go YUP. So it’s fine with me, I can just use the other platform thing…thats not a cage…I dunno what its called but you can do squats and military press in it. Anyways I look over and see theres the olympic bar, and a 35lb. plate on each side. Then I also see a balance ball thing turned upside down…so you can stand on it flat to balance yourself. THEN the guy goes on top of it…and does MILITARY PRESSES with that weight while balancing…O MY GOD. I dont know if anyone else here does that…but it looks pure fuckin retarded. So dumb I almost stepped in. It looked damn dangerous…especially when he would have to pause for a few seconds to re-gain balance when he was slowly falling backwards…It’s a disaster waiting to happen. And his “spotter” was at least a metre away from him saying…good stuff. Retarded…The guy even did shrugs with DB’s on these balance board thing. It’s ridiculous to me.

Obviously. I won’t even go to a gym without at least 5 different bosu balls. You all can build that big bulky nonfunctional muscle if you want to. Me, I’m going to build longer leaner muscles that are toned and functional. This month, 3lbs dumbbells. Next month, who knows, I may even try a half pounder added to each side if I feel crazy.
The goal.
Anybody seen those machines with the big rubber bands that stretch back about 10 feet? The ‘trainers’ at my gym put women on them all the time. Once they have extended the 10 feet, getting in the way of everyone walking by, they have her pull the rubber band from an arm extended position into her chest. Then they have her ‘squat’ down while still holding onto the rubber band.

You should do a Pilates class after you have progressed to 5lb dumbells. That will really lengthen the muscles. Follow it up with a hot, Bikram yoga class to sweat out all the fat.

That’s brilliant! Doesn’t everyone want to look like the Cat in the Hat?
