I’ve been called by a friend who has a space on a Kick-boxing event he is making and i was more than happy to help him out fill out one of the fights.
It won’t be anything too serious like my previous MMA fights.
It will be 3 rounds of 2 minutes each, based on K-1 rules, one knee strike allowed per clinch.
The weight cut will be much easier, this time at the 185lbs weight class, i’ve been walking around 205lbs and still have 3 weeks till the weigh-in.
The fun part is the short notice part, I’ve been weightlifting and grappling for most of the year and haven’t trained striking since last year, but since I’ve spent most of my life training stand-up i thought: “why not?”.
I’ve dropped all weightlifting, if i have energy i’ll probably squeeze 1 or 2 training sessions per week and i’m training twice a day.
Oh, and it will be inside an octagon since the event will consist of MMA and Kyokushin matches too.
The original event poster was kind of lame, so i’ve asked some friends of mine that are designers to do one inspired on PRIDE. I’ve cried all afternoon after seeing this thing of beauty.
it was a little extenuating because the event’s weight scale was showing 3.25lbs compared to mine at home, so i had to do 30 minutes of bike, 30 minutes of sauna in the car and more 10 on the stairmill.
Now it’s all good and fun =) looking forward to the evening.
I wouldn’t call it a “mistake”, just something I’d like to see more of, but you landed the left straight every single time you threw it. Throw it more. When you looped it a little it gave him a chance to roll under or catch it on his shoulder, but when you were firing it straight down the middle you were tattooing him with it. Keep hammering that thing.
