I am wanting to gain lower body strength and all over muscle tone. I have a sore hip flexor, so I need to stay away from squats and deadlifts. Would strength training with machine leg extensions and machine leg curls, work as a temporary measure until I am able to squat and deadlift again? I know strength training is more beneficial with big compound movements. However, surely the machines are better than nothing, in the meantime. In terms of the toning side of things, I have big compound upper body and core exercises, at 12 reps, 3 sets each, with a short rest of 45 seconds between each set.
It would work better than if you did nothing
Iām a little confused how a sore hip flexor happens at all, tbh, but moreover is what āsoreā means.
Did you injure it somehow?

Do what you can without pain.
Do you have a diagnosis on the hip flexor?
