Biceps are lagging, but other than that good job. Nice back defintion…pretty ripped overall.

Cheers man.

I totally agree with you. Im working real hard to bring my biceps on, i train my biceps with same intensity as anything else, however for some reason there are behind in terms of development in comparison with my other muscles.

It was only last week that i dedcided to hit them twice a week.

My original bicep day looked like this:

Gironda Curls x3

Zotan Curls x3

Single arm cable curls x3

(by now my bi’s are completely smoked)

I may do hammer curls x3

** Now on monday im doing:

Incline dumbell curls x5

cable curl x 4

Anyone with advice on how to bring on the biceps, it would be so appreciated[/quote]

I’m not a huge, or even a big guy. You can find me somewhere on this page on RMP. However I think my biceps are a decent size and have decent strength because of the amount of work I’ve been putting into my back lately. My advice would just to hit your back hard and your biceps will prosper from that.

I do 4 to 6 back exercises and 2 to 3 bicep exercises in a day depending on how I’m feeling. I usually throw in curls somewhere between my back exercises, incline curls, and at the end I do chin ups. I do 35 chin ups with the least amount of sets as possible.

Edit: what are your set/rep schemes like??

Rico Suave:

On biceps i do mostly sets of 3, reps anything from 8-12, its always different though. I might hit 7 reps then change the weight and do 14. Just hammer them

I use do alot more on my biceps, and because there werent coming on like i thought they would i said id start doing less sets. However i still hit them very hard in the session even with less sets.

I didn’t tell him to “just get bigger”. He’s not big right now, but if he is happy with his size that is fine. The problem is suggesting that one can have a lagging body part when they do not yet have significant size to begin with, especially given the age. This guy is not going to be able to put on noticable size in his biceps without getting bigger all over. He has to decide if he wants to get bigger all over, but trying to get his biceps to “catch up” at this point is a waste of time.

BTW, 160 was a guess. According to his profile it looks like hes 154.

Your talking sense Tedro…

I am happy with my size (i have a positive body image) however overall size gain is the goal at the moment, ie. i want my muscles to get bigger. My biceps have come on, however most muscles are better developed at the moment… Im gonna keep at it big time, food and training… They will get there, everything is gonna get better.

I remember hearing that you need to gain 10 lbs of bodyweight to gain an inch on your arms, although I don’t know how true that is.

Good physique, if not already asked, what kind of numbers can you put up.

To tell you the truth your biceps look pretty proportional to the rest of your arm, you just aren’t flexing them properly. In your first pic, your fists are pointing slightly forwards, you need to try to rotate them as far back as possible to show off the biceps. In your avatar, you simply aren’t flexing all the way.

u have a good amount of muscle and excellent definition. if u bulk up to 180 while maintaining that definition, ull look pretty intimidating.
one thing i discovered about the biceps is that they grow pretty decently with the back. Do this back workout twice a week for huge guns ,
weighted chinups 4X6-8+ 1xbw to failure
deadlifts(do these first) 4X6-8

THATS IT.no curls, no rows, no pulldowns.focus on the intensity of the deadlifts.

Deadlift 130kg 1 rep

Squat 90kg 1 rep ( i always do high rep squats 60kg)

Bench 85 kg… (mostly do dumbell bench 35kg dumbells

I’ve improved alot in my lifts in the last two months

And that’s bullshit especially if he feels his biceps are lagging. I don’t think schwarzenegger got his biceps from some deadlifts and chins that’s idiotic.

Cheat Curls
BB Curls
Db Curls

Add more weight as often as possible and your biceps will be forced to grow. Accompany that with heavy back exercises.

Worth trying if you want bigger biceps.

Didn’t read the whole thing, but that article looks like shit. Too many stupid little methods. I don’t understand why nobody can stick to the basics that have worked for everyone whos made an awesome physique.

You look great man. Im your heigth but 25 lbs heavier, Id gladly trade some weight for a similiar physique. keep it up.

first off, doing a great job so far paul. i’m blown away in comparison to most of the posts here.

i’m probably on board with austin’s comment here. i didn’t read the article, but i agree with austin’s last sentence here.

i also agree with the overall sentiment that you should try to gain overall mass to “bring your biceps up”, so to speak. plus, like you said, imagining yourself with 20 more pounds would be great. post pics when it happens.

good job.

noticed this too, good catch tedro

Pros, like schwarzenneger, took steroids. Steroids enable s person to surpass their genetic limit, so any stimulus they set on any particular muscle will cause it to grow.

Im not saying barbell and dumbell curls will not produce results, infact, they will, but u will reach a point where there will be no growth in ur arms. Here u need to change something.

Deadlifts(and rock bottom squats) are ur legal steroids. I once read somewhere that deadlifts and squats cause a 1500% increase in testosterone and growth hormone for almost 2 days after doing them. Deadlifts work ur arms, back, and legs. Chinups will blast ur upper and middle back, and ur biceps. U will grow. ur arms will grow, ur lifts will increase, and u will gain minimum(if any)fat(the GH and the test u produce will ensure that).
