Feets Don't Fail Me Now

^There’s a moustache attacking your face. I personally wouldn’t take that.

I bet you could swat it off and stomp it with the Vibrams.

Did my legs yesterday in the VFF’s. Today my legs were as stiff as usual, BUT, the step mill after tonights training was TOUGH in these things. Definitely was reminded where my feet and calves were the whole time on the mill…

Took the dive and bought the Komodos today.

>dat feel when you are sitting on the couch like an ass trying to get your toes in properly… then shit clicks and your feet slide in as easy as hands into a glove.

Very much looking forward to taking these puppies for a walk tomorrow.

^LOL. I haven’t lifted one day without them yet. I am slowly adding in calf work because your toes do a hell of a lot more of the job when you wear these.

I didn’t make this thread to create a fad though. I just like how the shoes feel.

I do see a hazard though if there is debris on the ground. You step on a broken bottle in these and you may need stitches.

The average person probably doesn’t even feel what the ground feels like anymore outside of the carpet in their house.

Nah (at least for me), these have been on the ‘to do’ list for a bit. I usually blow my “me” budget on the kids or house (or food beyond the food budget). Just kicked my ass into actually walking into the shoe store.

I love the damn things. If I had the immediate funds, I’d buy another pair to wear everywhere.

Saw a friend in the gym today and she said she’s got a pair lined up and going to start training in them to run a marathon. What-evah!

Well, my brother has been speaking highly of them for quite some time now. He is in the military and wouldn’t shut up about how much he and his buddies like to wear them when they go for runs. I had been on the fence for some time but my ratty old gym shoes finally disintegrated when going through my washing machines ‘sanitize’ cycle, so the positive reviews here ended up pushing me over.

I know they are advertised as outdoorsy shoes, but I’m gonna be careful of taking them on serious hikes and shit because of the hazard you mentioned.

As it turns out, my left big toe is either a hair longer than my right or is more sensitive to the snug fit… either way, it’s not as comfortable as I’d like. I didn’t really notice it at the store, but I’m gonna give it a day or two to see if it breaks in before attempting to shave down the toe with a hacksaw.

Okay decided to keep my nike shoes for running and getting a new pair of Vibrams for the gym.

I love my VFFs. I got some this summer and I find it hard to wear anything else now. I bought some Merrell Pace Gloves for work (I’m a PE teacher - the head might raise an eyebrow at my bright pink and orange Vibrams) and they’re pretty nice too, but I like having the toe separation. They are great for squats and deadlifts.
I got a good tip from one of the ladies on the PW forum about squirting the inside of the Vibrams with vodka to keep the stank at bay, and it seems to work.

I ran a Warrior Dash in Ohio this past weekend wearing Merrell Trail Gloves and they were amazing for me. No problems in the heavy mud or on any of the obstacles. After hosing them off and a good scrubbing in the kitchen sink they look great. Been wearing the same pair since March. Lots of trail running, lifting and everyday walking. No tears or scrapes and the soles still have lots of tread left. Good stuff.

the stache and I have a mutual understanding so I wouldnt say that its attacking my face… but it is a full on frontal assault to all onlookers who gaze upon it. Most are dazed by its beauty and ferocity.

Why do people have such a problem with smell if they can wash them like clothes?

I am avoiding washing them now because that protective coating works to keep them fresh.

When did some of you start needing to wash them and why is the smell an issue at all?

i think they get stinkier faster because you’re not wearing socks… I think I had to start washing mine after a month or so? I was running in them quite a bit too so they were getting lots of use.

Yeah, I would figure as much…but what I mean is why people act like it is such an on going issue.

If you can wash them, what’s the problem?

I have two pairs. I am guessing one could be drying while I wear the other pair. Most here seem to have more than one pair…but smell keeps getting brought up.

I think it may be because my feet don’t sweat much. Neoprene insoles are the one thing that ruin shoes for me because they do sweat then.

mine got to the point/are at the point where the little bit of a smell never goes away. I wash them and they smell way better but they’re never going to be odorless again (wash them once a week)

I’ve had this same pair for over 2 years though so i dont really expect them to have that “new shoe” smell.

I hate socks. Like seriously. I take care of my feet so don’t care about showing them off at all. I would wear sandals more if I thought they wouldn’t fly off and stab someone in the eye if I tried to move any faster than a slow glide.

Training barefoot just feels better.

Foot fungus does not.[/quote]

I love training barefoot. I always take off my shoes for squats and deadlifts and just lift barefoot.

Make sure you wash your vibrams ALOT! They will get really smelly really fast lol… wash them often.

Like in the shower? Dishwasher? Car wash?

My Nike Frees are still pretty stanky, so hosing them down in the driveway and leaving them out in the rain isn’t working.

I just sniffed mine and they still smell brand new.

I also clean my feet before I put them on even if it is with a handy wipe.

I guess I will start washing them in a few weeks.

I think the black ones feel better.

Try soaking/washing in non-chlorine bleach.

Or wash with a sport specific detergent and add oxyclean.
JLO bought some for my workout clothes cause after just warming up I would smell like a homeless person.
