I’ve had this same pair for over 2 years though so i dont really expect them to have that “new shoe” smell.
Try soaking/washing in non-chlorine bleach.
Or wash with a sport specific detergent and add oxyclean.
JLO bought some for my workout clothes cause after just warming up I would smell like a homeless person.
i used oxyclean but i’ll try the sport stuff… like i said mine are two years old
This combo has really worked, I cant smell and JLo can smell a mouse fart two miles away. So it must work well together.

Oxyclean is a ‘non-chlorine’ bleach. Generic non-chlorine bleach is cheaper and is just a solution of Hydrogen Peroxide, which is what the main ingredient in Oxyclean breaks down to in solution.

Why do people have such a problem with smell if they can wash them like clothes?
I am avoiding washing them now because that protective coating works to keep them fresh.
When did some of you start needing to wash them and why is the smell an issue at all?
I don’t have a washing machine. I live in a tiny studio flat in London with no room for one. I don’t even have a freezer - just a small fridge with an ice box. I get a service wash at the local laundrette but I don’t trust the women there not to fuck up my shoes by putting them in too hot or sticking them in the tumble drier.
Back in July I visited some amusement parks with friends for four days or so and by the end of it they could have walked home by themselves. I have hand washed them a couple of times but trust me, the vodka spray really helps if you are washing machine impaired like I am.

It’s all good!

Damn Steely schooling my ass.
Please tell Jlo so she knows not all large white men are knuckle dragging neanderthals.

Well, I am kind of a neanderthal, but I do have short arms (and my deadlift sucks)…

I prefer a Gorilla with T-Rex arms.
<------------ suffers from SAS (short arm syndrome)
They look pretty funky, but there appears to be somewhat more cushioning than a Merrell or Vibram shoe. It looks as though they would be a good intermediate shoe for someone transitioning from Nike Frees to Vibrams.
I’m still running in my Frees. I bought the Vibrams (I have the Bikilas) for running but I’ve had a problem with the ball of my foot since early July and am only just easing back into running now and the Frees are a safer bet for the time being. I’ll move to the Vibrams once I’m happy my injury is healed.

bro I have cankles up the ass… Where does the calf fat end and the ankle fat begin? lol!
anyways, the first week I used the NB Minimus, I did rope climbs just for fun, and on the descent the rope ripped off one of the circular pieces from the sole… lol, son of a bitch!
first day of unleashing my gloved toes on the world.
wave at the nice lady letting me cross the street, wince like a bitch as I start to jog across. People weren’t kidding when they say these things require some adjustments; the pavement fucking hurt. I’m guessing I probably looked like I got shot in the calf after my first step.
settled for a hoggle (hobble/jog) and felt extremely conspicuous. Even the voices in my head were laughing at me.
get to campus gym, start warming up.
make it through two exercises
“you can’t wear those here”

sadly drink my Powdered Muscle on the way out the door
rip stop sign out of the ground
begin to cross that demon street again, bracing myself for impact
adjust heel strike appropriately, glide like a motherfucker and feel like a boss. erybuddy 'mirin my aesthetics.
Not a bad day so far. Feet might hurt tomorrow, though.

Question…I have some spray Oxycleaner. Would be a bad idea to just spray that in the shoes at night and let it dry?
I like my shit clean…but I’m also reluctant to wash it too soon because of the other issues people mentioned.
X I would say try it a few days. I finally washed my first Vibrams the other day, no issues. But I could see a lot of washing will end up breaking them down.
I would also suggest just wearing them in the gym to work out, not to and from house. Just my .02
I get nothing but compliments in these and people asking where to buy them.
DJHT: Yeah, I pretty much do that now. If I were going to wear them around all day, I would probably dedicate a pair just to that. These fuckers feel great in the gym. People can complain about the shoes not increasing your squats all they want but having good footing and stability also means you simply move around better. Less likely to trip or look clumsy with that much tactile control…unless you are just really clumsy.

I love these shoes. Different feel than my five fingers although the sole of the shoe is still made by vibram. WAY better than my nike frees but not as “vulnerable” feeling as the VFF. I ran in them a little the other day and it felt great.
My buddy got the trail gloves and he likes em a lot. I wasnt as big of a fan of them. I thought the NB’s were better but its just personal opinion I think. not really much of a difference since the soles are made by Vibram and the shoe part is basically nothing.
