Favorite Workout Music

Rise Against
Tool
Rage Against the Machine
Deftones
In Flames
APC
and A.F.I.

for the most part when I lift, I have more variation in what I listen to when I am not in the gym, but these are always with me.

Right now I’m only listening to music when I’m walking on the treadmill because I hate fidgeting with the wires and having the ipod attached to me. I’m gonna get a pair of those wireless headphones, see how those work. Here’s the music I like to listen to, anyways (various bands/genres):

Oi (skinhead music) and punk
3 inches of blood
various psychobilly/rockabilly
misfits
rage against the machine
early AFI
various garage
various rac (rock against communism/colored) - not racist at all, but some of these bands are related to Oi! therefore i have heard of them, and they pump me up a lot.

System of a down - Deer dance is my favorite right now…but really any song will work by them
Killswitch engage
Tool
Metallica
Anything that kinda makes me angry and want to lift heavy weights…
I’m surprised no one else mentioned Killswitch engage (at least I don’t think anyone did). Nearly all their songs pump me up.

Try Rammstein sometime if you enjoy heavier beats like metal and hrad rock. I find their music works well to keep me pumped for my workouts. They’re a german death metal band and have many songs in movies, games and other things. Of course it helps to understand german, otherwise you’re enjoying the instruments only.
I was bigging to be worried that nobody had mentioned Rammstein.

Oh you don’t need to know German to feel the energy.

before I spoke German, Rammstein was hardcore for training…really gets you pumped…then you actually know the songs, such as Du riechst so gut “you smell so good” and your like…w t f…

Chimaira is another great band among the many already mentioned

This is good music!

In Flames - The Quiet Place
In Flames - Take This Life
In Flames - Only For The Weak
In Flames - Metaphor
In Flames - Evil In a Closet
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
Three 6 Mafia - It’s A Fight

Does anybody know what music Ronnie Coleman listens to whislt working out, especially in that famous 800lb deadlift video?

mostly all techno gets me pumped but i never listen to it outside of gym.

best lifting music there is

THE ROCKEY SOUNDTRACK!!!

Mainly the training bit.

(from all 6 movies)

In Flames, Lamb of God, godsmack, machine head even one or two by avenged sevenfold.

And to the bloke who said anyone that listens to music whilst lifting is pansy, He obviously has never had to lift in a commercial gym at any stage.

Majority of the music in this thread does not find it into the CD player at most gyms !!

I work part time in a commercial gym at the weekends and the music i play most people there have never heard of. You do have to be careful not to go too crazy but i’ve had lots of positive comments and only 2 people who wanted to change what was on.

The pleasant guy who asked me (big skinhead guy) got his request - he did’nt like “heavy” music while lifting and wanted dance/rave - this was on for a short time as i really hate it. The other guy was quite rude (well proportioned look - on 'roids to get it and probable wasted his money as food would have had the same effect) - told me it was putting him to sleep so i suggested that he may as well sleep as waste his time in the gym :stuck_out_tongue:

My mix includes the following:

Slipknot (Many, fav = Wait and Bleed)
Rammstein (Any and all)
Mudvayne
Soil
Method Man (Yo momma don’t wear no drawers)
50 Cent
Jim Jones (We Fly High)
Disturbed (Sickness)
Marilyn Manson (Cake and Sodomy, and Rebel)

I second Sliced, except i add Rob tempter, some songs from footloose, twisted sister, Dio, To me 80’s power music gets me going specially on my Judo cardio etc.

But when all i do is just lifting then Disturbed, Marea, etc.

Right now the song I save for right before a rugby match is Dropkick Murphy’s Sailing Up to Boston from The Departed soundtrack.
I always listen to Flogging Molly in the gym.

What I’m into right now is Rise Against, great stuff.

Also I listen to the Offspring as well.

its weird while im actually lifting even with my headphones in i dont hear any music…but as soon as im done its the music that keeps me going in between sets and gets me started to lift/push that bar
