Personally i think Vegeta went down hill after the frieza Saga, moreso if you read the mangas. Up to the Frieza saga, he would constantly showcase his fighting genius, after that saga though, he became foolish and essentially the reason for every bad thing that happened. Dont get me wrong, i love vegeta’s badassness, but he peaked during the Frieza saga. <–Hardcore nerd here, and always will be.

He could have finished off Cell and saved the day, but he let his ego/pride get in the way and got his ass handed to by Perfect Cell.
Vegeta allowed himself to become Majin Vegeta so he could take on Goku and win. So now he’s cheating to win, even though he has Saiyian Pride. And I don’t think Goku was fighting at full strength. He could have went SSJ3, but he didn’t.
He killed thousands of people because he can’t handle losing to a better fighter. That’s not bad ass, he’s just a villain.
Vegeta runs away from fights. He spent the entire Freeza saga running. Cell and Android saga consisted of him being an arrogant prick and hesitating to kill villains at the perfect time.
Vegeta is first to fight…unless he has to fight Freeza or he might lose.

I agree with all of that EXCEPT the ‘He spent the entire Freeza Saga running.’ He was up against an assload of people that had him totally outclassed. He was strategic about things. but after that, yea his character blew up. He just became a cocky putz who set into motion every villan reaching their peak.

Goku has cheated millions of times.
From using the chamber of time, to training in the afterlife and having all crazy privileges.
Goku also waits till the last minute to fight. He comes in to save the day…right after everyone is exhausted (including the enemy).
Or he always has everyone give him their power.
