I was looking for an alternative to mayonnaise for canned tuna, and found that Greek yoghurt works quite well, particularly in combination with various spices or spice powders. Probably I’m the just last person to get that memo, though . . .
Its the lovechild of Frank Zappa and Dennis Miller.
But this!
Is also my next area of exploration.
Green dragon sauce from Trader Joe’s.
Love me some Trader Joe’s. Didn’t think about all their cool sauces! Ok check it out
I’ve had all the bottom row before and one or two others. I can’t find any of the others
. I want to try some of them so bad! Might just have to order some offline
I get them on Amazon
I cover fowl with a chilli/lime seasoning and then put BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Rays for me) on it for the last minute of cooking each side.
This makes it soooooo much better.
It’s 10 carbs and 50 calories if you put a crapload on.
Make your own teriyaki. I do it from time to time.
Mince and sautée some ginger, garlic and shallots, add 1 cup soy sauce, 1 cup sake, 1 cup mirin (sweet sake that you can find at pretty much any grocery store in the Asian foods section), simmer and reduce by 1/3 and add a corn starch slurry (2 tablespoons corn starch with 4 tablespoons warns water, mixed well beforehand), then a tablespoon of sesame seeds.
With it, take skin on chicken thighs, salt and pepper them and put them skin side down with no oil (lots of fat in the chicken skin) in a room temp stainless steel pan, put the pan on the burner and cut the heat to medium. Cook til the skin side is crispy and golden brown. Flip, brown the other side, remove and let set. Take a bunch of broccoli and cook it in the chicken fat. Dunk all that in the teriyaki sauce and serve, and save the rest of your sauce (there’ll be a couple cups left for extra meals over a week).
I use his BBQ sauce. Love it
