When I can be bothered I’ll mix in sushi seasoning (rice vinegar sugar and salt) with a fresh batch of rice. Add other things as desired e.g. Avocado for fat and tuna for protein
It’s like shovelling down sushi by the spoonful.
I make a lot of sauces/pestos from scratch. Super easy really, just blend some veg and seeds/nuts together and you’re good to go. Avocado, spinach, basil and cashews is a great one. Tomato, chilli, red capsicum and thyme is great too
I picked this up from a Berardi article on tnation:
Big bunch spinach (I dunk into boiling water first)
2 whole tomatoes (I peel first)
1 onion, roughly chopped
3 cloves garlic
Salt, pepper, curry powder
1/2 cup water
Puree up and store (freezes well enough)
Fry up chicken, toss the above through with some greek yoghurt (10% fat)
Knowing how to make a simple pan sauce was pretty much a game-changer.
I most often use water, chicken broth, or red or white wine, then toss in some dried parsley, black pepper, and a slice of butter. Red pepper flakes, garlic powder, lemon juice, and/or basil are also good go-to’s depending on what you want to end up with.
You can also make your own “buffalo hot sauce” by using something like Frank’s Red Hot as the liquid. Only downside is that you basically tear gas yourself while it’s reducing, so get some ventilation.
