rap is mostly what people are making today.

hip hop died out as being popular in the mid/late 90s.

quick example, Common= hip hop/ Lil Boosie = Rap

my brother is in a band, and they cover “i’m a player” by him. some other good too short songs: blow the whistle, shake that monkey, burn rubber, blowjob betty, goin’ dumb, players holiday…etc.

Ol’ dirty bastard’s song nigga plz is classic, that whole CD is not really coherent but it’s a fucking masterpiece. “Bitches wanna fuck me when they smell my underarms!!”

That’s a hot fucking line! haha, not really, but Jay-Z wouldn’t say some crazy shit like that. The man calls himself big baby jesus, i mean hes fucking stupid (and dead) but shit is entertaining to say the least.

stop trying so hard to ‘be hiphop’.

my name isnt off “backpack shit” its from Fabolous/DJ Clue and i replaced 718, with 781

A couple of white kids arguing over who’s more hip hop. Hilarious.[/quote]

I wasn’t arguing over who was more hip hop, as I have never claimed to be hip hop. I wasn’t even arguing at all.

The fact is that if you think Soulja Boi is better than KRS-ONE, then you don’t deserve to be included into ANY music discussion, let alone a hip hop discussion.

Does anyone remember Skee-Lo? “I Wish” was the first CD I ever bought. I’ve been getting into N.E.R.D. and Swizz Beats a lot lately, too.

N.E.R.D. is releasing “N.3.R.D.” sometime this spring/summer and are going on tour with Kanye this summer.

i think dizzle is forgetting something, rap music started as party music and honestly what would you rather hear, a 16 yr old doing a dance n having a good time or him talking about how gangsta he is or how governments can defeat third world poverty?

in hip hop started as party music period

too keep things going i got the new sheek louch album yesterday its a really good album definatly worth the purchase, anyone else heard it yet? or more to the point anyone support him yet?

check out Tabi Bonney, this guy is serious. If you dont know him YOU NEED TO WAKE UP

so put me in the pooooooooocket

think im gonna be a superstar…aw aw aw

if you see a fly guy, if you see a fly guy…then you lookin at meeeeeeeee

Great point.

Maybe I got a little emotional because I like KRS-ONE so much and hate Soulja Boi more than anything. Crank That (Soulja Boi) and Laffy Taffy are on my list of top 10 worst songs of all time.

I guess since the hip hop I grew up listening to was geared more towards the MC’s skills than the “partiness” of the song I lean more towards that type of stuff. It’s probably a preference thing. I’d just rather hear someone with flow and something to say.

-dizzle

This is easy. Mostly old school. As a matter of fact I was just talkin to one of my friends about how bad rap is now. Its so watered down. When was the last time you bought a rap cd and the WHOLE ALBUM was good?

My list

Biggie
Tupac
Cypress Hill
Wu-Tang
Dr. Dre
Ice Cube
Snoop (old stuff)
Eminem
Beastie Boys
Ludacris
Outkast
Digital Underground
Roots
Jay-Z
DMX
50 cent
Kanye West
Nas
Nappy Roots
Missy Elliot

Great Hip hop Cd’s

BIG- Ready to die. Life after death
Tupac- All eyez on me
Cypress Hill- Cypress Hill

ding dong-bad man forward bad man pull up

Eazy-E

RAP is something you do.
HIP-HOP is something you live.
-KRS ONE

I know it doesn’t say anything, but I felt it should be mentioned.

nice blend.

I’m surprised the coup and zion i haven’t been mentioned yet… Me & Jesus the Pimp in a ‘79 Granada Last Night, Doin’ My Thing, and Pimps are some of my alltime favorite songs (and yes, I’m partial to the bay). Mos Def/Blackstar, Busta Rhymes are staples as well (Do it Now and Scenario)
