This is certainly not a new subject, I’m just looking to see if there are some new answers. I am a 40 year old male, 5’10", 205. Focus is predominantly strength training, bench is around 375. My body fat is about 13%, but it is all concentrated in the abdominal area, almost can’t get enough skin to measure with the calipers anywhere else. No matter what I try I can’t seem to lose the excess fat from this area. I’ve tried diets, dozens of different abdominal exercises and regimes, and supplements, no success. I changed my workouts the past 6 weeks to increase cardio work and I have been running 15 to 18 miles a week. Weight loss has been about 6 lbs but no reduction in body fat. Any suggestions? THANKS!
The tendency to store fat there relates to hormones changes as you age but the fact is you have fat stored that you can lose by a proper diet with calorie counting. In terms of the hormones, maybe some tribex would help and some test/gh therapy most definitely will work. I have read (but cant confirm) that drinking red wine actually reduces the tendency to store fat in this area.
statepenn - I have the exact same problem. I’m 41 years old, 6’1", and weigh 210 lbs. I run 3 1/2 miles a day 6 days a week. I eat a low carb diet and weight train 4 days a week, but have not been able to get rid of that last bit of fat around my midsection. I’ve been taking MD6(2 pills 3 times daily) and T2 (1 pill 3 times daily) for about 4 weeks now. I’ve been at the same plateau for quite a while now, but recently have noticed significant differences since started the T2. I took Xenadrine before that. It worked great, but then I plateaued. I’ve also increased my level of activity on the weekend which may account for the changes - (lots of projects at home).
I am in the same situation that your in. I started out around 180 lbs 18% body fat and dropped to around 147 lbs 12% or so. At that point no matter what I did I just could not start losing. I figure I had been dieting for around 6 mos or so. In that time I think I went from 2200 calories down my lowest around 1800 calories. I read somewhere that when you start to diet for long periods of time your body just gets used to the low calories… so what I decieded was to bust my calories back up to my maintenance 2500-3000 and just go from there. So the 3 weeks that I have been doing this I actually noticed that my roll around my stomach is actually shrinking ( very very slowly)!!! It may just be time for you to up your calories to maintenace levels for 1-2 mos because your body is used to such low amounts. Then after that period start to diet again.
Ok…now I know that this site is typically geared towards men, but women need help too. I have the same problem with my gut! I am 40 years old, 5’8", 140 lbs with 20% bodyfat. I have tried everything to get a lean tummy (cardio, supplements, weightlifting). The rest of the bod is no problem, just the stomach area. I am doing things the healthy way (no steroids) and I want to keep it that way. Any suggestions??? Sorry if I asked a question with a question. I AM NEW!! HELP!!
Probably six months its to loong for a cutting diet, your body must be totally adapted.
