Not only are you much stronger then me, now you also weigh less. At least before I could make myself feel better by knowing you were heavier then I was. Next I’ll find out you’re better looking then me and have bigger appendages.[/quote]
bench and triceps - arms and shoulders are fatigued, still, from the accessory work i did on tuesday. i think i need to make a schedule change. anyway, as a result, i played it conservative and kept the volume low.
bench- full ROM- competition commands and pause
0x10
135x10
225x6
315x6
405x2
455x1
490x1
touch and go
455x3x3
schwabs in smith machine- paused at bottom
135x10
225x10
315x6
365x4x2
thanks guys… i didn’t feel very strong. really need to tone down the accessory work. i’m not recovering before my bench day…or i may need to move deadlift/accessory day to after bench day. but then if i squat before bench day, my arms sometimes ache after heavy squats.
squats- we worked up to our openers and second attempts on squat tonight. warmups felt good… a little tight. opener, lower back was tight but the weight was very light. unracked my second attempt and got a very intense jolt of pain in my lower back. lower back immidiately tightened. i racked the weight… now i have some numbness in my outer thigh. anyway… front squats felt fine. i’m gonna get it checked out this week.
Geez, your slimmin’ up fast! Perhaps it is the drastic weight change has thrown off your centre of gravity, causing you to adjust your power groove which has placed a different strain on your muscles… which has caused the injury. Just thinking powerlifting/ body mechanic physics…
Running down you quad or hammy? Either way, you will find out tomorrow. We all know you will be ok, you have balls of steel and back bones of titanium. And the recovery ability of well, a superhero…
thanks guys. i really appreciate it. i have an appointment this afternoon and then the gym at 5:30 to do some bench’n. regardless of what he tells me, i’ll be benching tonight:)

it runs down the outer thigh. i can feel something if i push real hard on my leg, but i can’t feel a light touch on my outer thigh down to my knee. it almost feels like when your arm goes to sleep when you lay on it for a long time.

One of my occasional training partners tore a quad a couple of years ago. He went to the doc and the doc said no lifting for 6 weeks. My buddy nodded, then the doc looked at him and said ‘you’re going to the gym after this, aren’t you?’. My buddy just nodded again. Good stuff.

yep… that’s pretty much how it’s going to work.
also, i’ve been on my feet all day and i keep getting these feelings like when you start getting the feeling back in your arm when it falls to sleep. i can only describe it as if someone was running water over my leg. but then it goes numb again… strange.
went to the doc today to get my lower back checked out. i have a bulg in a lumbar disc. i’m not supposed to lift so i celebrated this news by benching tonight. i’m going to try and find some common ground and lay off the things that really aggrevate it such as back squats and deads. apparently hyperextending my back is irritating the damage so i guess that’s why front squats don’t bother it. anyway… i’m still going to compete at the SPF Worlds.
i also didn’t get into a tight arch tonight. i pushed myself up on my traps but didn’t arch my back much at all. still had a pretty good night. worked up to my opener and second attempt on bench.
i was just wondering whats a good way to increase my bench. i swear it’s been about 3 months and the most i can do in bench is 1 set of 225 5 times. the best i ever did was 8 times. how can i increase my bench??? plz help. it looks like you go it down pretty good.
