RE squat- this cycle will consist of submaximal weight while increasing the reps. i’ll stick with 585 and each week add reps to that. tonight was a good starting point, although the 315 against bands kicked my ass.
full ROM squat
ox10
135x10
225x6
315x4
405x1
495x1
585x3- i’ll bump this up to 5 next week.
squat against bands
315x10x3 + 40lbs from last week. this was really really hard.
superset - seated calf raise and cable wrist curls.
some x some x 3
i’m not a big fan of high reps but they sure do make you work hard.
Your 585x3 squat vid is an excellent demonstration of squat technique and hitting the groove. The Boss, who just turned 60, singing “Glory Days” in the background made it just right for this forum.

Hell yeah Hel! I thought the same thing! The Boss working out to the Boss!
Bench Night- we got a little bored tonight and decided to see just how many reps we could hold our breath through on our rep work. On my rep sets with 385, i got 8 reps on my first set without taking a breath, 10 on the second and 12 on the last set. i really thought i was going to pass out… that would have been cool. holding one’s breath really does keep you tight. so… i actually got two PR’s in one set. what a whore.
bench- full ROM- warmup-paused
0x10
135x10
225x6
315x4
405x2
485x1 + 10lbs from last week
RE bench
385x10,10,12
cybex tricep machine
some x some x 2
circuit- standing calf raise and cable wrist curls

Crazy but strong as all get out.

i tend to do stupid stuff when i’m bored… plus one of my training partners hit 12 reps holding his breath right before me so i HAD to do it. yeah… I’m that guy.
warmups went okay. got to my working set with 585 and my right hip flexor popped on the way down. hopefully it isn’t too bad. i think i injured it last week doing the band squats in a very fatigued state.
i followed up the squats tonight with really light walking lunges and then leg extensions. finished with calf raises and wrist curls.

thanks hoss. i don’t think it is. and even if it is, it’s just part of the game.
