Fat Guy in a Little Coat- Powerlifting Log

skwattts- a great night. felt strong and actually set a weight PR for once.

front squats to pins- paused
0x10
135x6
225x4
315x2
405x2
455x1x2+ 50lbs from last time

zercher’s off pins
135x4
225x2
315x2
405x1
495x1
550x1x2 +55lbs from last time. i first put 25’s on and then i remembered that 545 is my best zercher squat off pins at this height, so i added an extra 5lbs to get the cheap weight PR.

that’s it… there were Hooter’s girls in the gym tonight. i’m not really sure why… but they looked at me like they were afraid i was going to eat their soul.

Meat

Huge week for you, thanks for the bench explaination, I am going to try that tomorrow.
I would be thinking of my soul too, if I saw you throwing 5 and change around like that.

Those are some amazing Zerchers.

Meat, since I’ve started front squating I am more impressed with your front squat of 600lbs than any of your other lifts. How the heck were you able to hold it on your shoulders? 315 is a challenge for me. Maybe bigger delts may help me. As always great lifting.

yeah…to be able to hold it crossed arm style you have to have big front delts. i place the bar behind my front delt. when i lift my arms, there’s a gap between my anterior delt and my neck. i rest the bar in there. it basically rests on my collarbone. i’ve actually done fronts squats with my arms out straight in front of me before as well. maybe i’ll do some of those as a warmup and video it and throw them up here. i still have to push my elbows up though to keep my upper body from dropping down.

from what i’ve seen, your delts aren’t exactly small though.

thanks bro. i’m hoping to surpass that 605 front squat in a month or so. next time it’s 495.

Great work on the PRs! Not that i wasn’t impressed when you were moving your ‘injury weights’, but its always good to see someone hit new PRs, those are some massive numbers.

Also, i’m impressed that you did 2 of the most painful exercises possible in the same workout, in terms of bar position. especially if you’re hitting PRs in zerchers, now you know for sure that your pain tolerance is better than its ever been

by the way, I’ve never heard of anybody eating souls before. How many souls do you eat on days where you do painful workouts such as this? Can i make my own immitation souls by mixing BCAAs with some 100 proof bourbon?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Like Hooters girls have souls.

thanks!!

i have a really high tolerance for pain. this has gotten me into trouble at times. if i wanted to i can actually tear a muscle by straining. many times i’ve felt muscles tearing as i’m straining. sometimes i can shut it down quick enough to limit the damage and other times i’ve done real damage. this is especially true on pin presses. there’s a fine line on those where i am putty everything i have into them and tearing a pec or front delt.

as pain goes, front squats and zerchers aren’t too bad.

i tend to stray away from too many souls. they tend to bloat me up pretty bad. it’s summer time and i need to fit into my two piece.

in a round about sort of way that reminds me of something that happened last night at the gym. we have plenty of douches that feel the need to lift their shirts to flex their hawt abz in the mirror. well, there’s this one skinny little douche that does it for all his scrawny little bodyparts. he was doing leg press last night next to us and he kept lifting his shorts to look at his miniquads. then he would lift his tshirt to check out the abzzzz. i finally couldn’t take it anymore. i walked up behind him when he wasn’t looking and lifted my shirt and started rubbing my hairy belly. he turned around and i just stared vacant into his eyes while still rubbing my belly. i did my best to druel a little as well. It seemed to work, he left.

That is classic! Was it more of a ‘get in my belly!’ rub, or a ‘get in there boy, nice and deep like’-whilst-touching-your-bellybutton-at-a-car-wash rub? either way, i’m sure it was terrifying.

I have just started using pin presses, and they are the best exercise i’ve ever done to add to my raw bench. I know in the max effort book they say that a lot of injuries happen whilst doing it, that’s twice ive heard it now. I’ll have to be careful…

When i was talking about pain, i was thinking more in terms of discomfort of the bar position. Good point though, i suppose the most painful exercise is the one where you end up hurt. After watching those videos i’m tempted to give zerchers another go. Might get a foam pad though haha.

deadlift- hit a huge pr on sticking point deads. a little over a month ago i could barely pull 600 from my sticking point. today i grinded out 685. the zerchers and elevated pulls are paying off.

elevated deads at sticking point

225x4
315x4
405x3
495x2
585x1
685x1 +10lbs from last week.

deficit pulls - 4inch deficit
335x3x8 +20lbs from last week.

standing one arm push press

50x8
100x8

next week i’m starting reverse deads in place of the elevated pulls.

Yup - that was a grinder alright. I found it interesting that the sides came off the stands at different times. Didn’t look like it affected anything on your pull tho…

F’n incredible pull Meat!

i actually missed my first attempt at that. i just couldn’t wrap my mind around it. that really pissed me off. i don’t know if you can see or hear it in the vid but i was doing a very good job of sexually harrassing myself.
