fat fast and PWO nutrition

I am seriously thinking about going for two weeks on the fat fast program and then migrating to John Berardi’s Don’t Diet, but I would like to know if it would be beneficial to consume some carbs after workouts, as I feel that on such a restricted diet that it would be beneficial to recovery and may even promote further fat loss, but any opinions would be great.

Today is my 8th day on fat fast. Let me tell you, it’s hell.

The other night I layed in my bed and looked at an entire menu for a gourment pizza place and fantasized about each and every pie on their (not to mention the salads, pasta, etc.)
Hot Rox hasnt curbed my appetite like I thought it would.
Just want you to know Fat Fast is tough. I am shooting for 11 more days of it then a swift to T-dawg or dont diet.

As for your question. I can’t answer. I’m following the diet to the letter.

After years of listening to Fat Fast feedback and trying it myself, I’ve decided it’s just a shitty, starvation diet. I would not expect HOT-ROX to kill the hunger caused by literal starvation.

The only people I’ve seen have a lot of success with the Fat Fast are those that modified it a great deal. In fact, it’s kind of funny when you hear people say, “Yes, the Fat Fast worked for me! All I did was add post-workout nutrition, up the carbs, add solid food, use steroids, add fiber…”

In other words, the Fat Fast works really well as long as you change up the entire diet so it’s no longer the Fat Fast.

We may update this diet soon. I think it can be greatly improved.

Thanks guys, I’ll take your advice Chris and not adhere to the fat fast program. Looks like I’ll simply start on the ol Don’t Diet diet by Berardi, who I believe wasn’t a big supporter of fat fast himself. I noticed CT did a fat fast diet for the first few weeks of his transformation, but his calories were way up there compared to the original article.

Anyone who can do that damn diet exactly as described is a stud - seriously it’s next to impossible

The problem with fat fast is that it’s a crash diet. It’s a simple concept, so everyone hears about it and says “yeah, I could do that, just drink protein shakes, down some fish oil” but it’s only a quick fix. Everybody has this fantasy (I know, I’ve fallen into it myself) of dropping a quick 10 lbs in two weeks. It’s not really correcting your eating habits. It’s like a body builders version of Ultra Slim Fast.

Well I am a stud no doubt. lol
I saw the Fat Fast as a way to jump start my fat loss. Lose a quick 10 pounds to get some momentum for a more sensible, long term diet like T-Dawg or Dont Diet.

Count me in as an “almost stud.” I did a SLIGHTLY MODIFIED Fat Fast for about 40 days (I, by design, ditched it on Thanksgiving). Dropped almost twenty pounds, most of it (going by the mirror) muscle and water. I did it with tons of pro-hormones and ephedra, however, and can’t imagine it without those supps.

I didn’t do PWO…in retrospect, I wish I had…though I did do one or two cheat meals per weekend. My strength levels didn’t drop, although to be fair I was working at below-best poundages when I started due to cranky rotators.

I liked the diet. Wouldn’t see it as any sort of long-term solution, but it’s a good way to jumpstart a physical transformation since you get immediate, drastic bang-for-the-buck. And in a freaky sort of masochistic way, I liked toughing out all the suffering…sort of like a penance for all the indulgences that got me my gut in the first place!

Doing the steroid diet naturally works excellent too.

It isn’t nearly as painful as that one sounds. 50 grams of carbs, 25-35 grams of fat and protein grams at 1.5 x lbm is much easier.

There are alot of decent tasting protein powders that make this tolerable. And it works great.

I have had better results WITH post workout carbs on a fat fast “like” diet. I use Surge when I’m on this diet, which I am right now. I’ll tell you something, I can’t WAIT to drink my Surge when I’m done working out right now. I’ve done strict low-carb diets 8 or 10 times over the last decade and they work better with Surge or something similar PWO for maintaining LBM. Also, I see no reason to limit yourself to protien powder and fish/flax oil. I do use these for a couple of meals a day, but there’s no reason not to eat, chicken, eggs, fish…etc while you’re on this diet. Just make sure the macro nutrient ratios stay the same.

I agree that Hot Rox does not suppress appetite that much, especially when compared to MD6. However Hot
Rox works, and I feel MUCH better when taking it, versus ephedra products, and I can sleep.

One more very important suggestion I have for this diet is this: Citrucel. Without a some good fiber therapy, you’re going to get very backed up. Sorry to bring that up, but there’s little or no fiber in a typical low carb/fat fast type diet.

I just re-read my post and laughed my ass off! I meant to say I lost mostly FAT and water, vice MUSCLE and water!! Can you tell I’m lo-carbing as we speak??

Bosco, what pro-hormone did you use? I was thinking about going on a fat-fast type diet while using a half-serving of mag-10 per day.

Well, I hate to say it but it wasn’t Mag-10. I loved Mag, and had great success when I did use it, but during the Fat Fast it came down to a monetary thing. I have a friend in the business, so I was able to get another andro wholesale (not as good as Mag, but it is lab-tested for quality control and delivered good muscle-sparing results). PM me if you want the name/brand, as I dont’ believe it’s fair to plug a competitor on T-Mag’s site.

Boscobarbell, you’re truly a class act!

I never did the fat fast diet although I’m relatively new to getting back in shape. So the fat fast had a quick fix appeal to me.

I started doing EDT bulking style. I thought having 50grams of carbs a day would be easy. WRONG!!! I felt like manure.

I never did PWO Carbs before. I decided to try some surge adn see what all the fuss was about.

What I’ve found is that by consuming all my carbs 1 hour prior to, during and 1-2 hours after my workout, is that I’m losing more weight and eating more carbs. I think that the stress of not having enough carbs caused my body to catabolize itself vs. burning fat.

So yes I’m on the fat fast diet with a rush of carbs every other day so that I don’t feel like manure.

If you don’t have a reason to have to drop the weight (weigh in or such) and haven’t been on a low carb diet for awhile, I would suggest it. I did the fat fast for 10 days and somehow lost no weight. I was meticulous with my eating and training, but I think I may have splurged somewhere ( I usually put it down in my food log) or have lowered my metabolism to where it doesn’t really do well on that type of diet. Also, on a side note, does anyone else get bloated when they start an extreme keto diet. I’ve noticed that starts to happen and my love handles get more pronounced. So I go right back to chicken and veggies and I’m good.
