You guys are starting to give me a complex about my back. People doing kroc rows with the gzillion# dbs and sets of 15 @ 245 bb rows. Damn strong legs and back. Good news on the shoulder. You also got me wondering bout the pushups. Use to have to do them off three blocks in the military. Been a long time since I’ve tried any.
Very impressive lifting, even better to hear that the shoulder is feeling better.
Wilson, I think my problem is some kind of inflammation or overuse injury. I may start taking some anti-inflammatories before every upper body workout. See how things go.
Rick, I like the workout esp the finishers.I’m combining the 5/3/1 and DeFranco workouts. It seems to me they go well together.
Harry, I’m trying to show my back the same love my chest and shoulders got for years. 100 push ups timed are the finisher to one of my new workouts.
Joe, I was just waiting for the pain to hit but it never did. I’m pumped. Thanks.
5.100 push ups timed: 5 minutes 55 seconds
Way to finish the Eco Challenge!
Nice work Mr Swole.
I am to the point where I take some ibu before every session. It is just a fact of life if I am gonna do what I wanna do.
Just now though I had to take some just to get out of my chair and let the dogs out. Literally I suddenly had so much pain starting from my rhomboids and ending in my forearms I felt like I couldn’t move. Had the wife bring me some gel caps, fifteen minutes later I am good to go. I guess it is carry over from benching yesterday.
Math, thanks for the new name of my thread!!
Pete, I been avoiding admitting I need to take pain/inflammation meds. Just didn’t want to admit I’m getting old. But like you said,“It is just a fact of life if I am gonna do what I wanna do.”
I take an Aleve and a glucosamine before my upper body training. I know that had to help me. Your bench is going to take off again
Thanks JW. I sure hope you’re right.
I use large dosage fish oil (20 grams / day) for long term anti-inflammatory.
Seems to work about as well as 4 Aleve / day but easier on my stomach. It seems to take a couple days to start working though.
Subluxed shoulder a couple times recently, and some tendon issues on forearms…
Mike, great thought. My fish oil ran out a couple months ago and I haven’t gotten any more. I was only taking 3.6 grams a day. I need to get some more and up the dosage. Thanks

i was part of a fitness summit a couple years ago. the nutritionist that spoke advocated huge does of fish oil as well. upwards of 20-30 grams. that’s a lot of fish oil capsules a day and a lot of money… even when you buy them in bulk at costco.
I follow this protocol: Males hard liftin bweight over 200pds 15-20 caps a day works great for alot of things.Joint inflamation is one of them.
Rick
I hate to be a shill…
But if I had the money, I’d order Flameout… Even if my interest was only life extension, or general health…
O-3’s and O-6’s are rather complicated. Fish oil alone is the biggest component but not the only… Also its good stuff is rather dilute, hence the 20-30grams…
I looked up their combination and you’d be very hard pressed to do better, and you’d have to balance several sources with multi-cap dosages…
But budget as it is, if it ain’t in Wallmart, it ain’t going home…
There’s no way I can choke down the amount of fish oil I see people reccomending. I think it’d be easier just to switch to grass fed beef. About the same profile as fatty fish and it would be easy as hell to get that in.
I agree with Joe, I hate getting to the point where I am living life around swallowing pills. Even when I can afford it. The current fish oil trend is, wait people, a trend. I am not saying it doesn’t have a lot of benefits, but there is a little too much hype for me to feel comfortable with taking it in place of good food and other healthy fat sources (I take flax and my test and lowering, olive oil, actually eating fatty fish, etc). I will periodically dose higher levels when I am feeling more beat to shit, that combined with glutamine does help me. But then again I am a tightwad nsaid addict…

Our specie differentiated in the Rift valley. Diet dominated by fish… Later, wild game, higher in 0-3s then what we can get…
I haven’t been able to lift all week. Back at it tonight with deads. It’s tought to find a balance with supplimants and being practicle. If you read and followed all the articles you’d be taking 20 differnt supps and need a second job to pay for it all.
i take 25g-30g fish oil. its 11 bucks for 400 g at costco. I’d take Flameout if I could afford it. Ive used and liked it, but its too pricey. I try to eat 5x/day, and I have 5-6 fish oil pills and an ibuprofen with each feed. a multi twice per day, and that’s it. I think. Oh yeah, I don’t have the cash for Alpha Male any more, so I’ve gone back to 100mg of DHEA every morning. yum
the best fish oil ratio I have found is nordic Naturals
it comes in a liquid that is lemon flavored.
It must be vomitous.
they have a capsule as well but its pricey.
as for grass fed beef- you should eat it if its affordable.
Ok… Waiting to see what you pulled…
