Fat Bastard

Heavy Zerchers from pins are a definate shock to the system. Sounds like a great workout.

Thanks guys.

My son is so hot and cold. Sometimes he’s begging to workout with me and other times he’d rather play video games. I’d like to see him workout a couple times a week. If all goes as planned he’s hitting squats and bench next workout.
My son is the same way. I just go with the flow…ain’t gonna make him do it.
I’m trying to lead by example. Hopefully he gets interested in lifting.

It was a fun workout, Jack. I’m loving Zerchers. I’m trying to make front squats a favorite exercise. I still have a ways to go with them.

I had the same trials with my now 20 year old. Thing is he has great genetics, had him on a program for 6 weeks and he packed on an insane amount of muscle. Then he schlepped off for a couple of years. Recently he came back, asked me to add him onto the gym membership, now he is going a few times a week at least. Better than nothing.

My favorite recollection is when I brought him to workout with me when he was 14. The Vikings Cheerleader team worked out there. I think he did 10,000 reps on the leg extension with his jaw down to his lap. Finally I tapped him on the shoulder and told him who they were. He played it cool with me, at least. ‘oh, thought it looked like they new each other’.

i have to do this with front squats too. they hurt so bad that I must really need them. That and I’m too big a pussy to do zerchers.

Pete, at least he’s hitting the gym and staying in shape. We have to understand its only freaks like us that like to workout with heavy shit. Our kids may not inherit that gene.

MJ, I think once you jump in and start doing zerchers you’ll become addicted. Start light. Even if its 95 lbs at first. I was using a foam pad for comfort but now just wear a sweat shirt and find it comfortable enough.

Had some downtime here at work so I hit the hospital gym.
Chins BW 5x5 supersetted with plancs 30-60 seconds.

zerchers are kind of a man maker… but the results are great.

if your having problems with front squats put your hands out further on the bar
let the bar choke you… if its hurting your wrists or elbows- your holding the weight.
spread your hands out somehow this keeps me vertical too.

Kevin, thanks for the advice but I think I’m stuck with a crossed arm approach. I can’t come anywhere close to an olympic front squat. When the bar is racked across my shoulders I can barely touch it with the tips of my fingers. My ending clean has the bar almost to my chin.

My legs are killing me today. I didn’t think I did to much on Wednesday. Must have been the front squats. I started some complexeds last night but didn’t get far before I stopped.

AAAHHH complexes… I remember them well. I need to return to them. you put up some strong numbers this week.

I just put these 2 things back in rotation. Z’s one week, Fr. Squats the next. Who needs situps when you’re doing these? Abs = ouchie.

I’ve come to like ab rolls and planks in the pushup position for abs. I’ll throw in some side bends sometimes. My abs have never felt so strong.

You are the complex king Wilson!! They seemed to work well for you if I remember corretly.

i have decided to throw zerchers in as my deadlift accessory for a cycle after a few more cycles. My plan is to do front squats for squat accessory instead of GMs, zerchers for deadlift, just to see if it cripples me. but since I just started on this cycle, I’m not wanting to change anything til next.

Sounds like a good plan. Have a drink for me this weekend. I’m staying dry.

Curious about Zerchers vs. regular front squats. Are there advantages? I’ve never tried em.

I’ll have a Tini tonight and single malt tomorrow for you. Hopefully a toast for KMC.

Never gave it much thought. I can use a lot more weight on the Zerchers. I’m gonna post this over on Meats thread see what he says.

Down to a skinny 257 this morning. Finally feel like I’m in a good groove with the weight loss. Only took me 20 years but I’m finally there. I’m eating a lot of protein just no simple carbs. See where I am in a month then try a clean bulking phase which doesn’t include devil dogs, ice cream and cake.

A lot of pushups, pullups and deadlifts over the weekend just didn’t get a chance to post.

Good work on the weight loss. I need to kick that in gear as well. But no ice cream? Damn.

i totally blew my diet, and caught cold. You are doing great Steve. 257. another couple pounds and you’ll officially be a girl.

I’m finally scared enough to get serious about weight loss. Both my cholesterol(270) and blood pressure(170/100) were terrible when I was recently over 270 lbs. I checked my BP last week at 261 lbs and it was 120/70. When I get down into the 240s I’ll check my cholesterol again.

I know high cholesterol isn’t an idicator for future disease with everybody but when I was less fat mine was normal. So I think its a good test for me. Alwyn Cosgrove has a good article on his website about fat loss. Its under the Jan 2010 article archives at his website.
