Everythings moving in the right direction. Always feels good to have confirmation that what you’re doing is working. Keep up the good work.
Leaving me in the dust Willy…245 for 5X5 is very impressive. Your numbers are climbing steadily. Keep it up.
I know what you mean about the weak points being exposed very quickly as the weight goes up. For me, the squat is where things go bad very quickly.
Thanks for the compliment Mday. I suspect I’m getting close the point where I realy have to structure things to see real improvements.
Willy, I think as long as you are balancing your program (push vs pull) and doing your accessory work (back, triceps, shoulders) you should continue to see improvement.
At some point, you will probably have to do some speed (bands) or board or floor presses to work through sticking points. You aren’t there yet.
How is the nutrition side of the equation going?

I’m still trying to loose the excess baggage of over 20 years of sloth. But I’m loosing weight and staying strong, so that is going well. I say that more by ‘feel’ than by an analytical approach.
I have started some floor work on odd days. I may need to work that in the full routine.
Thanks for the thoughts, Mday
Lookin stonger than ever. I’ve been thinking about actually working on my nutrition a little myself. Tell you what. You do all the research, come up with a great plan, and I’ll use it. Long as it includes seafood and beer.

I eat seafood, lots of it, just not fried… ![]()
Dammit
Nice bench willy!
Tuesday morning workout:
Assisted pull ups: 8
Standing dumbbell MP: 50x10, 50x6, 50x5
Lat pull downs: 160x10, 160x8, 160x8
Seated Row: 150x10, 150x8, 150x10
Dumbbell Row: 3x65x8
Treadmill intervals: 15 minutes
Didn’t have the gas today. I guess it happens. I barely survived the intervals. If they dont kill me, I’ll be suprised.
Off to a parent teacher conference. Oh boy!
I’ve seen people suggest pull-downs to improve pull-ups. I’ve been watching your combination of them and that looks like a good way to hit the muscles.
A parent teacher conference can suck the gas right out of you.
Willy, I see in your log that you are doing ‘assisted pull-ups’. You may want to try ‘ass’ pull-ups to really ‘boost’ your progress. See hel’s log for more information…
Sorry, I know this is an old joke, but it still seems funny to me.
Open house for my daughter’s third grade class tonight.

Yep…I learned from hel’s log… Spell out assisted!!!
Open house for my 3rd grade son tonight as well Mday. And the ass joke never gets old.
Thursday morning workout
Dips: BWx10, BW+35x8, BW+35x6
CGP: 135x10, 185x6, 185x5
Over head triceps cable extensions: 3x75x10
Treadmill intervals: 15 minutes of sheer Hell
Decent enough workout today. Next week 5x5 on the CGP. Also moving the triceps day to Monday, bench days will be Thursday and Sunday.
My Dad and I rode up to southern Maryland yesterday. I am trying to develop a new revenue stream and bolster our export business. It was interesting. My Dad went to get out of the office and to check behind me…ha-ha! But I think I met his approval and have the blessing to carry on. I guess this will lead to another Asian junket. My wife will be about ready to divorce me when I spring that on her!
I guess I’ll plan to check an extra bag to bring home gifts and bribe my way back in the front door!
Good luck with the wife and business. Your tris must be fried.
Looks to me like you’re making good progress Willy. Nice going!
Friday morning workout:
Squat: 3x135x10
Leg curl: 3x80x10
Leg ext.: 3x70x10
Treadmill intervals: Yet another ass kicking 15 minutes
Not much to report other than a nice Autumn morning here in eastern NC. I guess we are fast making the transition to winter, my least favorite season of the year. It’s funny I hear how folks like to see the change of seasons. Me I’m a one season guy, summer. As I age the tropics call my name more and more. The problem is I don’t know how to make a living down there and maintain my family’s current standard of living.
Oh well, I guess that is why we call them dreams… Oh boy, a snap back to reality. Seems we have a crisis with some the control logic of a machine center. I guess I better see what’s happening there.
I hate it when life gets in the way…

And here I am hoping for early & heavy snow so that my son and I can take our new snow boards out and start learning…

Snow, something I see about once a year if I’m lucky or not since people from eastern NC don’t know how to drive in a half inch of snow
