Ever think about jumpin on your hog and just takin off for the beach and livin life like a Jimmy Buffet song? How about movin up into the mountains where they gotta pipe in the sunshine, make your own hooch, and just watch the world go by? Or, buy a nice boat, live on the marina, and just sail off when ever you want?
Okay, maybe none of the above are feasible. Just wanted to take your mind off “stuff” for a minute. Hang in there, buddy, always better days ahead.

I’ve thought of living on a boat for a long, long time. My wife never warmed to it.
However, my in-laws have managed to retire and spend the last twenty years in the mountains and are thriving there. I’m buying some land in the same area. Build an earth sheltered cabin facing the sun some day …
Sorry to hear about the employee he had, but you are right, there are better days in store.
Hang in there Willy.
Thanks for the support everyone. My guy that fell is in his late '70s. He can out work guys in their '30s and had driven over 2 million miles for us without a single violation. He was as safe a person as I have ever known. Until this one time.
I tried to get him to retire a while back, his wife suffers from dementia. But he would have no parts of that. So on he worked.
He is in good spirits at the University Hospital. He is ornery as hell. But his daughter is keeping him in line.
Still it sucks because ultimately I the one responsible for each individual’s behavior. So while this accident was the result of a "brain fart’ ultimately the buck stops with me for fart elimination. I failed yesterday.
Life on a boat or at a beach really looks tempting. My wife and daughter wouldn’t be too interested.

My wife is all for the beach, just not living on a boat ![]()
Did I read somewhere that you poured foundations at one time? I did that for four summers while I went to college. What a suck ass job. I had to drive one of the trucks because most the guys had DWIs. I got in several fist fights with coworkers. Guys would work 1 day and never show up again because it was so tough. But I had a great tan.
Thursday morning workout
Dips: 15xBW, 10xBW+35, 6xBW+35
Skull crusher: 50x12, 70x10, 70x7
Triceps cable pushdowns: 3x20x75
Treadmill: 15 minutes.
Early workout, late posting. Went to the Doc about my ‘condition’. Things are healing up so no surgery this time. But in the future, all bets are off.
I talked to my guy that fell. The pelvis is fractured not the hip. The docs said they will not have to slice and dice on him if he heals nicely. He said he is bored as crap and tired as hell of watching TV. But he did say his night nurses were “blessed” physically and wished he could see them …uummm… in their swimsuits.
I hope my mind will work like that at 78…

All my concrete work has been here at our plant. Pits, walls, slaps, mezzanine floors, water spill ways, machinery foundations, roadways. Everything has been in an industrial setting. The work is demanding, but not so hard. It’s kind of like lifting, long on strength and technique!
I do like the finishing side. That is part skill and art form in a weird way!

My wife is a CRNA. Says most guys in their 70s have minds working like that if they are physically active.
Thats great your guy is still in the game!!!
Took the morning off.
every so often you just need to do that

Smokin’ those triceps, JWilly.
Thursday evening on a whim
Bench Press: 135wu, 225x5, 250x1, 275x1, 285x1(PR), 295-missed, 225x8
Cable triceps ext: 3x75x15
Machine Triceps ext: 3x95x6
Went to the gym on a whim tonight. I guess since I bagged my morning cardio I was feeling guilty. Decided for some singles at the bench. 285 was pretty easy. Feeling cocky I went for 295 and missed, dammit!! Right there in that transition point about 3 inches off my chest was “the spot”. I think I waited too long.
Anyway I got mad at my triceps and decided to blast them. Sorry bastards!!
It was nice to walk away from the gym knowing I’m almost as strong at 47 as I was at 22. I think I’ll be stronger at 48!
Back in the gym tomorrow

There’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll be stronger.
You will be even better at 50!Nice bench.
Snaeaking out to the gym at night, huh? Great damn bench.
On a side note about skids vid. Some strong guys. Not to start shit here but watching it I did realize that I guess I do care about the “looking good” aspect of lifting more than I thought. I train for strength but I really don’t want to be strong as hell and look like some of those guys. Personal preferance I guess.
Friday Morning workout:
Dumbbell floor presses: 3x70x15
Barbell shrugs: 3x205x12
Dumbbell rows: 3x60x10
Treadmill: 20 minutes
Nothing spectacular about the morning work. I like how the floor presses work on that sticking spot. Thanks for the advice Skid! Since my work spouse is in there most mornings she can pass me the bar. I may start doing them with a barbell and getting the weight up.
Hopefully next week I can work the snatches and power cleans back in. I have missed not doing them since the “flare up”.
I also have to figure out some work to strengthen my front delts. I can tell they are weak from my failed 295 BP attempt.
Well its take the family to the beach for Labor Day. Damn the diet and enjoy the food! I’m going for hot dogs and beer at the hotdog stand, shrimp and grits, and coconut cake at the senator’s restaurant. Going to take the daughter on the golf trail (that’s putt-putt golf)and send the wife to the day spa. Plus I know my mom will have furniture to move for me. That is my true birthright!
Y’all enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
Try some speed work. It might help you blast through that sticking point. Just my opinion.
