Fat, Bald, and D@%n Near 50

Looking strong J. Work on the tan this weekend.

Willy,

I go away and you put up a new bench PR…You are making it very hard to keep up. Great job!!

I agree with Ironman…include some speed work to get through sticking points and to prevent overtraining.

I can’t wait to see where you end up at the end of this 5X5 program.

41 - 13 OUCH!! My tail is between my legs. We App fans are licking our wounds. Now we can concentrate on the 1 AA playoffs.

Hey just started reading through your thread. I have in laws in Boone and we were just in Charlotte for a few weeks.

One of my wifes cousins is a senior this year and going to ASU next year in the ROTC program. It’s awsome to see the progress you made and I am only a couple pages in so I am going to head back and read the whole thing so I am up to date take care

Monday evening workout

Bench Press: 135WU, 205WU, 225x5, 4x255x3, 2x255x2
Incline Bench Press: 135x10, 3x155x6, 2x185x2
Machine Flies: 150x10, 160x10, 160x8

Got home from the beach and cut the grass. Had an note from the neighbors about the height of the grass! HA-HA.

When the wife made it home I hopped over to the gym for a workout. I was all alone which made for the funny reps and set numbers.

All and all, I had a decent workout. Nothing remarkable. I am planning to put the power snatches back in this week.I am excited about the power move.

What a pretty day here. Quite a contrast to my outlaws in South Louisiana who took a direct hit with the eye of Gustav. My father in law sunk his trawler and hauled ass. They are well and enjoying Tunica Ms.

I think this storm will make him retire. He is tired of fighting the “good fight” between the weather, the government, and public perception of his industry.

There I go on my soap box again…

Good to hear the family is safe.Making a living on the gulf has been tuff for sure.Nice bench bro!

Nice work on the bench J - I am so looking forward to being able to go all out on the bench.

Benefits of mountain living - the only way the grass gets cut is when the deer and elk swing through.

All my people down in New Iberia seem to have come through the weather ok. They just hunker down and ride it out. Bein cajun ain’t never been synonymous with bein real smart.

Tuesday Morning Workout

Dumb bell MP: 2x50x10, 50x7
MP partials in the Smith: 3x100x10
Lat pull downs: 3x130x10
Seated Row: 125x10, 2x135x10
Treadmill: 20 minutes

As I have stated before, I just feel better about morning workouts. Worked the back and shoulders pretty hard. It’s good to be back in the routine.

What a morning! As I have stated Autumn is fast approaching. When I arrived home this morning I was greeted by a bald eagle perched on our Purple Martin house. I went to snap a photo and the batteries were dead in my camera.

I guess that is why I’m sawmill trash and not a photographer.

still looking strong J. I’m glad to hear your family is OK. The weather is crazy all over these days. We had a tornado in NH this year that killed someone.

Looks like we may be dealing with Hannah in a few days. Concerned about the daughter down in G’ville. Hopefully they’ll get a path mapped out and we can make some plans.

Anybody every notice how the articles on the main page can be contradictory? The article tells you to do leg work standing up (not sitting as in a leg press) then they show a pic of some juiced up monster doing a leg press! Or they tell you to do mobility work then don’t explain or demonstrate that.

If you are interested in mobility work do a search on Eric Cressey or Mike Robertson. I’ve got the Magnificent Mobility DVD, one of the best things I ever bought. Got a ton of good info on it.

Good benching, JW. Those pecs must be poppin.

Wed morning workout.

Machine crunches: 3x95x40
Slant board sit-ups: 2x20
Treadmill: 40 minutes

Cardio day…UGH!!

The wife is mad at me. I forgot to remind her we had tickets to the race in Richmond. Hell I forgot we had them myself. Now it’s my fault she RSVP’ed a b-day party a friend of my kid is having. It’s my fault the hurricane is threatening to hit. It’s my fault the sun rises in the east and sets in the west…

Slept like a log last night, even though it was Ambien aided. I’m still tired today. Might be all the faults I’m carrying at the moment… Back to the iron tomorrow!

I have tons of respect for you guys that can get up early and workout every day.

As I see it you have 2 options with the wife:

  1. Tell her to kiss your ass.
  2. Or kiss her ass and tell her you’re sorry and you’ve just been busy and forgot. Give her a funny card or flowers. It works, I know.

I opt for #2. It’ll make your life much easier.

Option #2 is the prime directive at my house. I think in one of my military history classes years ago we studied tactical retreats. As a the lone male I’m always prepared for a tactical withdrawal at any given moment.

I’m with E for #2!

Retreat hell. Your only option here is total surrender. #2,with groveling, is the only viable option.

Glad to see we’re all on the same page. Keep up the good work.

Oh, we’re so not on the same page! (Gee, big surprise, that, huh?)

Sucking up implies someone can blame you for their anger and you’ll do whatever it takes just to keep the peace.

Um, no!

Your wife is an adult. She’s entitled to her anger, but she needs to learn to own it. In other words, she’s not entitled to take her emotions out on you. You told her you simply forgot. You apologized. She no longer has the right to be mad at YOU for making an honest mistake. Sure, she can be angry or annoyed at the consequences of that mistake, but she doesn’t have the right to act like you deserve an unlimited dose of her anger.

Big frigging deal if she has to call someone and explain that you have an unexpected conflict. Shit happens and friends should understand that.

We’ve had a policy in our marriage for 26 years that if one of us screws up and offers an HONEST apology, then the buck stops right there. Yes, it might mean we still have some things to resolve or discuss in relation to what happened, but anger and attitude have no part in it. If need be we’ll back off the issue for as long as it takes to adjust our attitude, then come back to the table to try to resolve any lingering issues or consequences.

It took me about 25 years to learn that being or staying angry is a personal choice. Your wife is out of line when she acts like an honest mistake is justifiable cause for hanging onto her anger and acting out toward you. I don’t think you want to teach your daughter to use this kind of sabotage in her future relationships … including her relationship with you or your wife! Unfortunately, we often learn to emulate our parents behavior and especially how they relate to the people they love most! I’d sure 'nuff try to fix this, but I wouldn’t use flowers or cards!

Sorry guys, but that’s my take!

Cappy
