Farmers Log

I’d really be liking to “struggle” with my squat doubles at 374.

Wendler says that upper back work as more caryover to raw bench.

I always like to hammer my upper back because it can always seem to handle the abuse well.

Nothing like new toys and a wife that lets you get them. But I think she might have ulterior motives on that. This way she can one up her friends by saying look at my husband look at yours. Can he even squat his own BW?

When my wife found out how my last tatto cost her answer was, “Great! I’m going shopping!”

F##k.

Awesome, looking forward to seeing them.

Yeah, post some vids.

I think the added weights are good for her own interests as well…

Umm . . . yeah.

My second emoticon ever!

thought i’d check out your log since you were wondering about dropping bumper plates. looking forward to seeing and hearing about your lifting.

Joe - It was that Wendler article that made me increase all the upper back stuff.

US42, KP, Null and Kent - I think the only time my wife appreciates my lifting is when moving furniture!

Cav and Germanone - Pics of equipment coming.

Alexus - Thanks for stopping by. I’ve actually visited your log and watched your vids several times, as I am a closet Olympic lifting “groupie”. I have toyed with snatches many times over the years (I’m nearly 42, I should be able to write that without sniggering by now) but I feel I was limited by not having a bar that could spin or weights that I could drop, a poor excuse I know. Hence the new bumpers. I can’t wait to have a go with them. All my lifting heroes are Olympic lifters, I have so much respect for what they can do.

25/03/2011

Back squat with pause in hole @ 396 lbs x 1-1-1

Bench Press @ 253 lbs x 7-5

RDLs @ 352 lbs x 1-1-1

Face Pulls @ 88 lbs x 10-10

Shrugs @ 374 lbs x 10-8

Leg Curls @ 90 lbs x 9-7

CG U/H Pulldowns @ 165 lbs x 8-7

Ab rollouts (off knees) x 5-5-5

Good for an extra rep or two on the bench, but kept them for the second set. Kept hitting the right safety bar for some reason which put me off a bit. It doesn’t normally happen. It was set up right. Weird. Might have to lower it, or it could be a one off.

3 singles of 396 with pause followed by 7 x 253 on bench.

New bumpers. OOoooooh!!

Great work Brett, at the risk of sounding stupid, the weights, the amount, 396 do you have one pound plates?

The bar is 22 lbs then

2 x 25kg (110) + 2 x 20kg (88) + 2 x 15kg (66) + 4 x 10 (88) + 2 x 5kg (22) = 396 lbs

Not a stupid question. Should be easier when my olympic stuff arrives.

is that weight in meters or euros?

Lol…

Great squats and bench, Brett. Congrats on the new arrivals!

They look sweet. Hope the rest comes soon.

Weight porn! Very hot. Don’t let those rusty old weights touch them.

lol. purdy weights.

Nice lifts, and new weights, Brett.

BTW, that bench is the highest I have ever seen, or you are shorter than I thought, heh. Which is it? If you have said something about the high bench before, I am sorry to have missed the explanation, but that thing would cause my fear of heights to pop up a bit, I think.
