I meant “emotional” support. Mine are the deluxe model with the built in speakers. You can choose from various inspirational lifting phrases such as -
“Come on you can do it!”
“1 more rep!”
“It was all you!” and
“I barely touched it!”
It’s just like having a real training partner.
Catching up here. Great training. Been wandering. What kind of meets are there you can get into? Powerlifting or Oly. I know there’s a lot of clubs in the UK (England and Ireland I know of) for athletics. Any for lifting up your way?

HAHA.
Interesting. I don’t have the fancy wraps but maybe I could record myself screaming like a drill sargeant. I’ll play it back on the stereo during a tough squat or dead set. And then I could yell back at myself for being such a dick.
Me…“C’mon you worthless piece of sht! Are you gonna fcking lift that or just sit there and cry about it?”
Me…“Go fck yourself. I got this you fcking assh*hole!”
Daughter…“Mummy. Why is daddy yelling at himself in the shed?”
Wife…“Just do your homework sweetheart.”
Not quite as inspirational as your fancy wraps but it might work.
Regaring your next squat session:
Remember - That which does not kill you, makes you really, really sore.

Harry - Thanks for stopping by. I haven’t really looked into what meets there are around me. Although I enjoy doing snatches, my technique and poundage is still embarrassing. Saying that I am confident I could really kick some ass in the 11-14 girls division. If I did go on to compete it would definitely be in powerlifting. But no immediate plans.
DCA - I could feel my legs starting to get that crampy feeling “during” tonight’s squats. When that happens I know I’m going to get the mother of all DOMS. What’s more because I’m not taking any anti-inflammatories or pain killers right now, I’ll get to experience them in all their fibre tearing, movement inhibiting splendour.

Power snatch @ 132 lbs x 5 sets of 2 reps
RSR wk 3 w/o 2
Back Squat @ 345 lbs x 6 sets of 6 reps
GHR @ bw x 5-5-5-5-5
DB Curls 47 lbers x 6-5-4
Did try to bench press but it still bothered my ribs, so I quit.
The squats were much harder than Monday. I think it had more to do with the fact I squatted Monday and ran yesterday, whereas I had 3 days rest before the 6x5. Thank god that evil Russian bastard didn’t put in a 6 sets of 7 day. On a positive note there was no way I could have managed this 3 weeks ago.
I did vid the squats but there’s no point posting it because it looks exactly the same as the last one but with a bit more grimacing.
Blarg, thats some heavy squatting for rep dude.

The sleeves are missing the all important “Up, up, up” You hear that at every meet, many, many times. It’s like it’s the same guy and he’s at every meet until I catch myself being the “Up, up, up” guy. I’d like sleeves that said that ![]()
Unless they scream “it’s all you!” they’re only wannabe supports.
That’s an awesome video. THAT’S the squat I want to pull off… perhaps minus the FABULOUS knee wraps that may or may not shout ambiguously gay inspirational phrases. Seriousl;y though, when rep 30 looks exactly like rep 1, you know you’re doing something right.
My legs are very tired this morning.
I just managed to fall “up” the stairs.
I guess I wasn’t lifting my feet high enough!
I grinned an evil grin to myself reading this and thinking back to my own bouts with the Russian squat program. Good work making it this far.
see, and everyone wondered why we hated the Russians

Power Snatch @ 132 lbs x 5 sets of 2 reps
RSR WK 3 W/O 3
Back Squat @ 345 lbs x 6 sets of 2 reps
389 lbs x 1
GHR @ bw x 5-5-5
Bench Press @ 264 lbs x 3-2-2-2
Push Press @ 248 lbs x FAIL
Don’t know what possessed me to go for the push press PR after 4 sets of bench. I’m confident I’ll get it next time though. In fact I think I could get up to 275 on these if I work at it.
One thing I’ve noticed with this Russian Squat Routine (or any other routine where all your weights, reps and sets are programmed 6 weeks in advance) is how much the workouts that are coming up prey on your mind. There’s a real psychological element to it. So much so that because I haven’t squatted with any thing more than 345 lbs for three weeks I’ve started to doubt my ability to handle anything heavier. So I decided to do a rep with 389 to stop myself from being psyched out by my 4 sets of 4 reps day with 387 (Next Monday). Fortunately it went up real easy and I feel better now.
Push pres 248lbs x Fail

This is starting to sound like jjkrash’s log when he was doing smolov.
It just occured to me. Your rack is the same as mine.
DCA - I thought I was taking the easy option doing this over Smolov. Now I don’t think there’s a lot in it.
Bulldog - Had mine 15 years and very happy with it. UN42 has the same one too apparently.

Power snatch @ 132 lbs x 5 sets of 2 reps
RUSSIAN SQUAT ROUTINE WEEK 4 W/O 1
Back Squat @ (85% 1rm) 368 lbs x 5 sets of 5 reps (PR + 10 lbs)
Good Mornings @ 132 lbs x 5-5-5-5
First bit of measurable improvement so far on this routine. I’ve never done 6x4, 6x5 or 6x6 before so I have nothing to compare it to, but today was a 10 lb PR over my previous best on 5x5 “and” my form was better, much less GM’ing it up.
I watched the “so you think you can squat” vids on the PL forum yesterday and implemented some of their tips today. So I got rid of my mirror and put a cross on the wall in chalk (about 7 foot up) and focussed on it the entire time and it really worked. Looking up keeps your head up which in turn keeps your back arched. It instantly eradicated the “head drop” I’ve been doing coming out of the hole which has been causing me to pitch forward. Brilliant. I didn’t realise squatting in front of a mirror could be so harmful.
No energy to do much after the squats. I’m working on the theory that if your squat goes up everything else goes up. I hope it’s true!
5th set of 5 at 368lbs
Your lower back must be made of f@@king iron
