I keep looking in on your thread and intend to say “Awesome job!” on the push press and then my ADHD kicks in.
Awesome job on the 235 push press.
Looking forward to seeing the results of the Russian Squat routine.

Maybe the ADHD is the result of too many spams. Who knows?
I agree on the nice job on the push press. Very impressive.

Power Snatch @ 132 lbs x 5 sets of 2 reps
RUSSIAN SQUAT ROUTINE, WEEK 2, W/O 3.
Back Squat @ 345 lbs x 6 sets of 5 reps
GHR @ bw x 5-5-5-5
Had to train through the pain barrier tonight, well, discomfort barrier. My painful rib got progressively worse over Thursday and Friday (didn’t sleep for 2 nights because I couldn’t lay on my front or side) so I finally went to the doctor’s. He gave me some pain killers so I could at least sleep. The ribs are slowly getting better but the pills have now made me constipated. Too much information I know, sorry.
So despite the sore ribs and bloated belly the squats went really well. Felt really fresh after the 3 days off and could have easily managed the 6x6 today. At the start of this routine (2 weeks ago) there is no way I could have done 6x5 but today it felt pretty easy. Amazing. I’m not “blowing my own trumpet” but the routine’s. Despite what that article on here says (Loading protocols that suck) wave loading seems to be working for me so far. Mind you all the routines I ever use are in that article!
Should have done some upper body work but it was too uncomfortable.
6 sets of 5 reps
I really admire your squat style. You stay tight throughout the lift, even in the later sets.
Impressive squatting. Very deep and very solid. Brings to mind some of the videos of high level o-lifters’ squat videos.
Very solid work.
nice!
Yes, very tight and concise form. And there’s nothing wrong with blowing your own trumpet when it’s deserving. And it is.
I almost don’t recognize you without the hat.
You squat like a piston…envious. You must be having a warm spell there.
When I look at the still shot of the squat video (before hitting play), it reminds me of the dudes from the video game ads I see on TV, you know, the unshaven killer commando guys from those war games…
Am I the only one who thinks this?
(given the Russian squat routine, maybe Spetnaz is more appropriate)
You squat like Vinnie Jones with bumble bee knees. Seriously nice squats. That’s a ton of work.
DCA, Jack and Soldog - Thanks for the kind words
KP and Git - Yes it has gotten milder lately, but unfortunately mild winter weather in Wales = Rain!!
Punny guy and Mrs O - Vinnie Jones?, Killer commando? Not sure what to make of that. Thanks. I think?
Carl - Squatting like an olympic lifter?, that’s the best compliment I could ever hope for. And thanks for tactfully not adding, minus several hundred pounds!

Power Snatch @ 132 lbs x 5 sets of 2 reps
Back Squat @ 345 lbs x 6 sets of 2 reps
Push Press @ 242 lbs x 1 (NEW PR)
@ 198 lbs x 3-3-3
RDLs @ 330 lbs x 5-5-5
Next squat w/o (Friday) the one I’ve been dreading, 6 sets of 6 reps. A whopping 12,420 lbs of volume!
Can’t wait (sarcasm).
If it helps, I have a weird thing for Vinnie Jones. Your squats are really strong and solid. What type of knees sleeves are those?

Nice and deep!!! No 1/4 squatting being done here.

Thanks Bulldog.
Mrs O - The knee sleeves are from Strengthshop and are great. My last pair were neoprene, made my knees sweat like mad, and the stitching started to go and they went slack all within a couple of months, but these keep my knees warm while letting them breathe and are just tight enough to give some support without being difficult to get on and off. I would definitely recommend them. And best of all they muffle the cracking sounds my knees make when squatting which can be distracting.
