Once again stating your opinion as a fact.
John Wayne’s autopsy revealed 40 pounds of impacted feces in his colon.
Elvis reportedly had 60 pounds.
How is that not the case?
It isn’t because it is URBAN LEGEND. Your body doesn’t hold 60lbs of waste in its intestines.
Your body is not a black hole. It sounds great for people who don’t know any better. It sounds stupid for those who do.
Right. Any reasonable understanding of physiology and anatomy reveals this. Those who are ill and whose bodies and simply not functioning may have some buildup but nothing like those outlandish figures. Werewolves, Godzilla, and Santa Claus are also myths. [/quote]
Whether people carry that much around in them is disputable.
I’m not saying EVERYONE has that much in them, but the average person who gorges on junk food all day could have a few pounds in them.
How is this fiction?
Thats how much they had in them.
Wow,you’re breaking my heart.
I never knew you believed in santa clause.

Thats why I used the word “reportedly”.
The point was that there WAS some build-up in their colons.
Zap said that there is no such thing.
This is the point I’m trying to make.
Maybe they exaggerated the numbers a bit.
But the point that I was making was that there are people who do have some form of build-up in them.

A FEW lbs, yes. A few lbs is NOT 40 lbs or 60lbs or anywhere close to it.

Zap said no such thing. He called out the outlandish and physiologically impossible numbers presented. No one is saying there cannot be some colon buildup. The acutal amount of fecal matter and buildup is minimal. Even in those who are very ill and whose bodies are not properly cleansing themselves it is only a few lbs.
In those who are in excellent health and have arbitrarily determined they have significant buildup, it would be less than that. Maybe there is some minimal efficacy to colon cleansing, and if someone feels like they want to try it, go for it. But the human body is a pretty amazing and all medical investigation has shown that it does an excellent job of cleansing itself when given the right ingredients. Everyone here should be eating properly and training and giving it everything it needs to do its job.

40 … 60 pounds is physically impossible. Elvis had maybe a pound of goo in his guts, but the John Wayne thing is unalloyed legend:
You are right in principle regarding the importance of keeping the “pipes” clean, but careful with those numbers.
By the way, there’s something that may be labeled as hippie or New Age, but - well, here it is:
There’s a procedure in the Ayurveda system (the traditional indian medicine) that involves drinking warm water with a certain concentration of salt, then executing certain movements (mostly twisting and bending the body in different ways).
After doing the cycle (drink a cup of water, do the movements) for about 6 … 8 times, you’ll feel the urge to go to the bathroom. Keep drinking and doing the movements, and the water will pass through the entire length of the digestive tube, very quickly, and will be eliminated together with whatever happens to stand in its way. At the end, the water comes out clean. Just stop drinking water and keep doing the movements until nothing comes out anymore.
This is the most thorough way to clean your intestine.
WARNING: The procedure is fairly complicated. Do not attempt to reproduce it based on hearsay. What you are reading here does not qualify as complete instructions - don’t do this; if you do it, I’m not responsible for anything that might happen. Only do this under competent guidance.
At the end you will have to stop the process and “rebuild” the content of your intestine in a certain way (essentially by eating certain things over the next 24 hours) and the procedure is time-critical.
It is forbidden to do it in some situations, such as issues with sodium intake, some severe diseases of the intestine such as certain types of cancer, necrosis, etc.
It seems to me like it’s OK to apply this procedure to a healthy adult, but I’d be wary to see it applied to individuals who are physically weak or ill. Some hospitals in India use it to treat severe cases of dysentery (perhaps combined with classic drugs), but I guess they don’t use it indiscriminately with all patients.
I did it twice. It’s pretty awesome. For weeks afterwards the feeling of well-being was quite unique. It fixed my lazy digestion for a while. Food had better taste. Stools did not smell bad again until several weeks afterwards.
It is recommended to do it once or twice a year, which sounds about right to me.
If you want to try it, find an ayurvedic doctor and ask about “Shank Prakshalana”.

Yeah, I never said elvis actually had 60 pounds in his colon.
I said he reportedly had 60 pounds, from all the shit on the net you read.
I never believed he had that much.
I was using it as an example when I was talking about constipation and colon cancer.
The funny thing is they said his constipation didn’t cause cancer.
I’d like to see what the colon of a patient who has colon cancer looks like.
Be pretty interesting.

He said he didn’t believe people are walking around with large amounts of crap stuck to the insides of their intestines.
But even a pound would actually be quite large for the human colon.
It is possible to have 4 or even five pounds.
Try holding one or two pounds of rubber, then tell me that wouldn’t be quite large for the colon.
Where saying the “tranverse adomis” is the “internal corset” or keeps everything pulled in.
How would one tighten this and strengthen it so it can hold everything in with less effort?
