Exercises to Get Lats Firing

What are some good exercises to get the lats firing?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I approached this from a competitive bodybuilding prospective, being able to spread your lats.

I learned to be better at it doing lat pull downs in front of a mirror. Use a relatively wide grip (straps help and don’t wrap your index finger around the bar) and put a slight pull on the bar and try spreading your lats. You should be able to see your lats spread in the mirror. Once you see your lats have spread, begin the pull (keeping your back arched) and pull to contraction. When letting the bar ascend try spreading your lats at the same time. Repeat for each rep.

The straps help remove the forearm involvement, likewise the index finger off the bar.

On long pulls, allow a full stretch before each pull.

Many more members will have suggestions. I think I’d ask @Christian_Thibaudeau for his ideas.

Dumbbell/Barbell Pullovers work pretty well for targetting lats IMO.

I did this as my finisher yesterday (first time doing the movement), took a minute but I agree they are pretty amazing.

Thanks guys I did mean as an activation exercise but I do have weak lats so these suggestions will also be very useful.
