Exercises Everyone Should Be Doing

If more people did rows and single-leg exercises, Mike, Dr. Ryan, and I would spend a lot less time fielding injury questions.

(I’ll choose this topic)
Stretches from yoga, pilates, etc. Correct head to toe alignment of the spine. My posture in athletics has been key to improvement.

If I didn’t do any dynamic, static stretches between each weight set, I wouldn’t be able to play my sports. What’s more important are the principles behind why I choose each stretch/ strength exercise to further enhance performance.

Weight lifting and sports cause tightness and diligent practice of flexibility has helped me to overcome major to minor injuries. I’m always fighting to regain full ROM. I’m built for weights and power endurance sports and not for dance so I struggle more than other dancers during barre practices. Frustrating. ( my rant for tonight)

Now that it has become “somewhat mainstream” all types of strongman training. If people hate lifting in a gym, and only want to do curls, they will be forced to deadlift, and carry heavy objects if they do strongman stuff. I really love farmers walks, and sand bag lifts.

Pushups. The old classic. Still my favorite. And everyone should be able to do a good number of them.

Handstand pushups work just about all the muscles in your shoulders while hitting the lats somewhat. They really help your overhead presses (i.e. military barbell press, overhead dumbell press, etc.) If you can’t do a handstand without support or can’t kick over into one, have your back facing a wall and walk your feet up it until your body (hand on the floor of course) is as close to parallel with the wall as possible.
