Took 3rd in the 50 meter…tore my calf muscle on step 2 of the race (did plenty of warm-up work and felt really good)… couldn’t do the 100…didnt even pick up my medal I just sulked and went home…my time is fast enough to qualify for nationals next summer…although a tree sloth in reverse would also qualify.

My calf is a grade 2 strain so rest , ice blah blah blah…sucker does hurt though!..oh and I did get a hideous green t shirt with blue ink commemorating the day! Look for that Ebay shortly!

Question is can I heal up enough to run 100 this sat in the Massachusetts Senior Games…im doubtful but working at it…

Sounds like the second step of the 50 m sucked big time. I doubt you’re as slow as you’re letting on. Third with a torn calf is fast in my book.

Sorry to read your tore your calf muscle. The glory of competition. If a sloth can get third…go sloth!

Good luck getting the calf healed up for this weekend OG.

Ouch.

Good luck on a quick healing!

Thanks All…

Steve- I’m old man average!!
GV- the sloth is definitely a better bet
Dave- from your lips to God’s ears
2Busy- I need all the luck I can get

Going to put a compression sleeve on and then wrap the calf , go through warm-ups and see if I can do the 100 tomorrow…have to show my college aged kids that the Oldman does not accept mission failure without a fight. although based on the treadmill today its not looking promising…Damn it…

Happy Fathers to those that are!!

Good thing you didn’t run the race today. Friday the 13th on a full moon. Lord only knows what would have happened.

Couldn’t run Sat… tried to in warm-ups and the calf said no way! Its getting better just slow progress and swelling although lessened is still there.

July 7th I have surgery ( unrelated) for a health issue so I am heading off the airwaves until mid September (ish).

Wishing everyone the Best,

Peace

Will miss you, Goat.

Good luck with the surgery. Hang tough Old Goat.

good work in your race sorry about the calf
heal up and have a good summer

I’ll miss you Paul. I’m sure you’re gonna breeze through everything and be back stronger than ever. I’ll do some sprints for you.

Thanks to all and much appreciated!

1 month update…had surgery on July 7th, stopped any pain meds at 5pm on the 8th, got home on the 9th, drain out on the 11th, staples out 16th, had catheter removed this AM! (yikes)!. I have read 9 books, I have drank the equivalent of gasoline truck in terms of water,
No cancer was found outside the prostate capsule, nothing in the margins nor in the seminal vesicles…so a clean pathology report!!. will return to work this Wed, .blood work monitoring starts in 30 days. Hopefully get cleared to lift in about 30 days… I win round 1

Peace

Excellent news! Glad to see you had great results.

Great news OG! Good luck on the continuing recovery looking forward to seeing you get back at it.

Absolutely outstanding news. So glad to hear it was localized and you’re doing well.

GV, Dave and Steve…thanks for the support, greatly appreciated … everyday a little healing occurs and I feel a little better and more comfortable. Been walking 3-4 miles a day…snuck into the gym a few times to do very light machine and empty bar stuff…see doctors in 21 days…hoping they cut me loose or at least give me a longer lead!! Lost about 8 lbs overall…but that will return once I can get going…keeping food intake down since I cant do much to burn calories I don’t want to just add sludge…

Keep working I’m watching!

Peace

You are a tough sob OG. I’m sure the docs will lengthen your leash and you’ll be back at it harder then ever.

Thanks Steve. goal is get previous levels by end of the year and surpass previous levels by July 28th 2015…when I hit 55
