When you do deads with preacher curls do you get your arm to the point of almost exploding? I find when doing them together the lifting can sometimes be overwhelming.
Cav and DB - thanks for dropping by. Appreciate the re-welcome!
Strick- my boy had a blast freshmen year…maybe a little too much second semester! But all in all it went well for him…My daughter heads off at the end of this month for her freshman campaign…this will not be easy for her mother! But she is only an 1 hour away so I expect my wife will be “disappearing” now and again.
GV- Yeah, the high rep preachers after deads make me believe for a minute or two that I actually have arms!!

I am pretty sure that most folks do a little too much their freshman year. I never recovered from mine.
That will be good. You and the wife will get mini-vacations! Her with your daughter and you at home!

hahaha, perhaps the only exercise where being light is an advantage
Just back from a wedding Raleigh and a few days of R&R in Wrightsville beach… it was deload week for me so perfect excuse to booze, snooze and cruise the bodysurfing waves with my son and occasionally my daughter…The waves were frickin’ awesome the undertow was strong at times and me and the boy spent hours analyzing waves, counting waves to find the bigger ones, laughing at each other and generally drinking about 6 gallons of salty, salty seawater…AWESOME!
My daughter would have participated more and I sure did miss her presence but she is coming off experimental knee treatment after 2 knee surgeries so we all wanted to play it safe.
Anyways , managed to do 5x100 yard sprint in the deep sand followed by a 4 mile walk in the deep sand…my ankle wasn’t happy but I was.
My sister who I hadn’t seen in almost 2 years was there and I had an opportunity one morning to workout with her son (19yr old) who has virtually no use of his legs and spends most of his time in a wheelchair. SO we went in the crappy crappy hotel gym and benched on hammer strength type Sears version of a bench, and then that little shit banged out 3x12 dips and when you witness what he has to do to get up on the bars dragging his legs your heart breaks and your soul shouts out loud how awesome is this kids heart?.we followed it up with , some DB shoulder presses and OH extensions along with some cable pulls with me bracing his wheelchair so it didn’t slide along the tile floor…we were sweating bullets and enjoying a good time…it was the most satisfying workout I had ever had…
We headed to the beach and after about an hour he wanted in on the waves…so his father myself and my son…helped him into the water and braced against the waves…There were people on the beach who came up to him to express their amazement in his courage.people who wouldn’t go in because of the warning flags atop the lifeguard stands. .no joke these waves were angry and awesome…and without leg usage he was participating…my ankle stopped hurting, my shoulder and rhomboid were no longer stiff, I no longer cared how little I can squat or DL…it just didn’t seem all that important…
When it was time for us to head to the airport last night, we said our goodbyes and he thanked me for spending time with him in the gym and letting him experience the waves. yes, I had to fight back tears and nearly lost it…and realized I need to be a better person…everyday!.

I can attest to that!
Sometimes life has to hit us hard to put things in perspective and remind us that most of our concerns are truly “first world problems.”
