Things are getting better. I need to learn how stop obsessing about things I can’t change.
Any replacements for Dallas yet?
You and me both. I think obsessing is one of my natural talents.
Nope, and I’m not looking for one. I’m replacing him with puke worthy complexes and protien shakes for now.
I need to get back on the protein shake bandwagon. Anyone try the orange or strawberry MD? I need to try something new.

Strawberry is good. Do want.
Am I the only one who really doesn’t dig protein shakes? I guess I have enough time and talent to make food quickly that tastes good, but I have really cut down on how many shakes I drink. If I do drink one, I will ONLY do a shake with water and berries (and protein powder). I find though that protein shakes leave me feeling weird in the stomach and I don’t know, just off. Really the single best protein delivery syatem I have ever used is beef jerkey.
Top round goes on sale for 1.99 per pound all the time. It is incredibly lean and has a very high concentration of good ole cow protein. 10 lbs of roast makes approx 3.5 lbs of jerky. so for 20 bucks of meat you get a 3lb bag of jerkey. For every Lb of raw, there is approx 100G of protein. SO, 10 lbs of raw is 1,000 G of protein. When you dehydrate this mother, you don’t get rid of any protein, so you essentially crate a 3 lb mass of 1000G protein.
I’ll do a count next time, but I can guestimate you will get around 200 peices of jerky roughly the same size out of 10 lbs of top round. This means that each normal sized peice of jerky is going to have around 5G of protein in it. If you are just snacking, you can kill 5-10 peices in mere minutes, especially with my recipie. 25-50 grams and you actually enjoy the experience.
Secondly, it’s small, you can eat 10 peices of jerkey 30 minutes before a workout and you will feel like there is nothing in your stomach. Yet you have 50 grams of protein entering your system over that hour to 2 hour period. It’s really probably the best food for anyone on the planet, the only ONE downside, and actually it has HELPED me, is that you will need to floss more. Like after you eat it every time. BUT this got me flossing my teeth a few times a day, My dentist even loves this idea.
Whats this thread about again?

I’m partial to fish tacos myself … I prefer hummus and cabbage instead of lettuce
When I was in Korea they had street venders selling hamburgers late a night as we stumbled through the gate back onto base. They put a fried egg and cabbage on the burgers and I’m not too sure if they were amazing or not due to the drunkness, but man we sure liked scarffing a couple down waiting in the taxi line
This morning, as I drove south out of Orange County, into Camp Pendleton and on into San Diego County the fog was incredibly thick. I dropped down into a little valley with a lagoon to the west, as the valley stretches east. The left side of the highway seemed to be lit up like a stadium, or as if there were a big road construction project ongoing. But it wasnâ??t.
It was the sun, blasting through the fog and igniting the whole valley to the east while everything else was shrouded in fog and grey. A gradual curve in the highway to the left along with a climb up a hill revealed more of the valley, which by that point was glowing with a yellow-gold hue, trees silhouetted on the top of the eastern ridge and blue sky above. The day-to-day grind is monotonous, so an early morning gift like this is definitely appreciated.

Sounds awesome Brad. Glad you were able to take a moment and appreciate it. Not everyone notices the beauty around them.

Was that an A+ for my rant? Or for polo making fun of me, I need to know which column to put a checkmark in.

Not coffee! Espresso! ESPRESSO! (God bless the Italians)
Polo’s got me wanting a fried egg cheebugah with my homemade coleslaw (no semen - you sickos)
on it - yes they are that awesome, but better when ripped. And it’s only 9:30 here.
V - any guesstimate on the sodium levels of home made jerky? Also if you’ve got any recommendations for a sweet & spicy marinade (again not containing semen - vampire or otherwise) that would be cool.
Mad_Duck you’re not too far away from a coffee spot in Kitsap Penninsula called “Bikini-Joes”
Even a cup of their hot water is worth the trip.
Going back to a few hours ago. Which, I know, is like a few years in TK time…

Are you rolling the pin by hand, or placing it on the floor and rolling your bodyweight on it? The pain and tightness usually subsides in 5-7 days, at least in my case it does.
I roll on it like its a foam roller. I usually roll at least 4x a week and try to do it daily, but the past few days have been hectic. I haven’t used my foam roller or done any rehab since Friday and now I’m paying for it. ![]()

I use a marinade that consists of 2 cups of soy sauce, 1-2 cups of brown sugar, liquid smoke and black pepper to taste. The only sodium is from the soy sauce and obviously you could go low sodium if it was a concern. I don’t know how much is actually absorbed by the meat, but I would GUESS it’s less than 50% and I’d hazard even further it’s likley less than 30% absorbed.
Also I soak mine overnight but you could soak it for only an hour and it still has good flavor, I have tried it.

I’m not sure why, but I was reading that absolutely the opposite of how you meant it. I could hear Martin Sheen, riverboat monologue - “I was going to the worst place in the world, and I didn’t know it yet. Weeks away and 500 miles up a river snaking through the war directly to Kurtz.”
