Ephedrine for the Meet?

Hey all, My meet is one week from now, and I was just wondering if any one used ephedrine for their meets, I have never used any drugs so I’m just wondering if it’s safe to use ephedrine 50 mg one capsule for the meet. Is it safe to give it a try or would it be too intense?? any ideas would be great!

Don’t use anything for the meet that you haven’t already tried in your training.

Personally, I like the Spike/Alpha GPC combo more than ephedrine. It lasts longer and doesn’t make you jittery.

I certainly agree. I have never used ephedrine before, but obviously it is very powerful, and affects people differently.

If you want to use it, try it out first a couple weeks before the meet. Do a workout on it and see how you feel. I’ve used some stimulants that made me so jittery I could hardly perform. I have a very low tolerance to caffeine (don’t drink soda or coffee) so some higher caffeine energy supplements mess me up pretty good.

Definitely don’t want to figure that out about yourself the morning of a meet.

guess u guys are right, it’s just that I dont get any thing from coffie that much as before so wanted something diffrent, but maybe I’ll avoide it for this meet utleast, will c.

Ephedrine may be banned by your federation, so check that out too.

If you decide to go with it, guage yourself, don’t take it before your squat opener. Sometimes the adrenaline and general anxiety of the meet will give you enough umph!, if you throw in something like ephedrine/ephedra it can jack you too much. And yes, speaking from experience on that one. I have shaken too much much to squat a weight I had done 5 reps in the gym with the ass flu. I would advise wait until after your bench opener or even before deadlifts. But that is me.

I agree with this after back to back bombs with squats at two meets this summer. It wasn’t ephedrine but another stimulant. I only twigged to it after the second that my nerves on my opener was compounded 100 times by the stimulant. I would try anything in training before hand but leave off anything on squat and probably bench as well. Fill your boots on deads though.

just checked and it’s not bannned, but I may only try it before my dead’s or maybe not, the fact that most of those powerlifters would using something or another to boost them good for sure.

I’m a big fan of Spike shooters… especially because you can sip them it’s easier to moderate your intake and not geek out before you get a squat in… after you get the first squat in all bets are off…

I’m pretty sensitive to stimulants so one Spike shooter is all I do for a heavy gym day ( my team does all three on one day)…
I tried adding a yellow-jacket ephedrine tab to that and had an amazing workout, I powered through all three lifts ~4 hours then my wife and I went to a family function to play whirly ball for two hours… and I was still going strong by the time we got home… the crash after everything wore off was brutal though… and I’m not sure how that would work combined with pre-meet jitters… try it in training for sure before you do it at a meet…
