Emily's About-Time Training Log

How ya holding up?

You like stepdaughter’s and Barcelona’s, the latter of which matches pretty exactly the instructor’s. Mine is in the middle, with the bad road.

@BethB, 11yo granddaughter’s, who is maybe the best person in the world. She shines with integrity and humor and decency. If there was a family vote for bed kid ever, she’d win, even the votes of parents of the other kids.

Better! The weekend was a good palate cleanser. But this morning I’m back to my messed up computer, buggy EMR, and non-working Quickbooks. I’m posting on my old computer, which has a broken “T.” And I’m maybe 15 chart notes behind. I do feel better able to handle the standard-grade fuckery today, though.

CG Max day 25/50 - circuits: weighted abs, single arm lateral raises, sissy squats, dips, overhead tricep extension, palm up and hammer curls - with 5 minute cardio and some KB swings for warmup.

Also 1.5 mile slowwwww hike. Between husband’s knee, Barcelona’s camera, and Louie’s potty breaks, we walked a blazing 38:56 mile, lol. But it was nice out (some sun!), and we all enjoyed it.

Good workouts.

Company is all gone now, and husband with them.

My side yard when I let Louie out just now. I don’t think the big, fluffy flakes show, but they were there. Very snow globe-y.

very pretty but also very cold.

I spend a good bit of money on outdoor gear so I can enjoy the cold. I look ridiculous, but whatcha gonna do? Husband always looks regular, as he is apparently impervious to the cold.

1 mile walk. It was cold out there! My nose kept insisting it was getting frostbitten, so we aborted at the halfway point.

We’re in the midst of quite a freeze too. Its probably more like your normal winter temps, but to us its cold.

Was like 6° earlier, now its up to a clear & sunny 8°. I don’t like it.

That’s what we have, too, but the wind is super bitter today. I hate bitter wind! If I cover my face my glasses fog. If I don’t cover my face, my nose falls off.

We’re not cold-cold like the Dakotas, more a mid-cold snowy place. Ski country.

In the interim between now and my last post, I got called to do some torch stuff for my tree buddy.

I had to use a little torch to get the caps off of the bottles for the big torch, then it all went great from there, cuz oxy-acetylene is very warm!

Now I just want to curl up under blankets but I gotta take kiddo to the gym, which is also pretty warm.

CG Max day 26 - slow eccentrics: sumo squats, pullovers, static lunges, chest press, bridges, arnold press - with a 5 minute cardio and KB swing warmup.

I’m still mildly shaky from this one. Good workout!

So update on the retatrutide. I’ve started tapering off, both by reducing dose and by lengthening time between doses. I’ve been at 1mg for some time, as 2mg was uncomfortable. I didn’t notice a difference in hunger when I dropped, just less nausea/discomfort the couple of days after taking it. I’ll do .5mg tomorrow or Friday (dosed last on Tuesday, before that Monday, and before that I can’t recall - but I’ve been adding a day between doses since taking a week off at Christmas). This week I’m adding 2 days. Next week I’ll do the same, and that will probably finish the vial.

I’m curious and apprehensive about stopping, but also hopeful and excited, because if it goes well it’ll be such an enormous win. I have friends and acquaintances who’ve bounced right back up after discontinuing GLPs, but they don’t eat or work out the way I do. So we’ll see. My plan is to try to stay where I am, food intake-wise, through the transition. I haven’t been tracking and will only restart if things go sideways.

CG Max day 27/50 - higher reps, low weight: stability ball rollouts, diamond press, fwd tilt bulgarian lunges, rear delt row, lateral raises, diamond pushups - with 15 minute/1 mile cardio warmup, some KB swings, and 10 minutes on the TM, with a couple of sprints. Long, leisurely stretch.

I got ready to do the wo at 9 - everything was in place - but my usual warmup had fallen off the first page of youtube, so I had to go looking. Watched a Billie Eilish and Eminem video, then got sucked into a video about bedtime stretching. It was interesting, but the guy spoke super slowly. By the end I was practically dead of needing a nap. Louie was snuggled up to me as well, which can lead to excessive daytime sleepiness. So I collapsed into a coma for 2 full hours. Husband and Louie were wandering around (and in a couple of cases over me) with zero impact on me.

Woke up, microwaved some coffee and had a snack, and hit the workout. It felt fantastic, body and mind.

Must have needed the nap.

Still Monday

Snowshoeing trails through the yard for Louie, who finally broke through his fear of losing his feet and bounded joyously through the belly-deep snow (‘bout a foot…Louie has short legs). It was a workout, especially as Louie kept stepping on the backs of our showshoes, which made it feel like snowshoeing through chewing gum.

CG Max day 29/50 - staggered RDL, shoulder press, banded hip thrust, sweeps, pushups - with 5 min cardio and KB swing warmup. I loved today. I was really feeling the mind-muscle connection, and am increasingly aware of my progress - in part because now I don’t have to look at Girvan to see which muscles are involved, I can look in the mirror to watch them work.

No weigh-in today. We had chinese takeout last night (not my idea) which I followed with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (my idea, lol). On the bright side I brought it into the house for the Barcelona guest, which was two weeks ago now. Last night finished it, but I had I think 5 servings from 2 pints, which I think is very moderate of me.

So now it’s gone and back to yogurt I go.

CG Max day 30/50 - accessory circuit: core and abs, delta, glutes, biceps, and triceps - with 15 min/1 mile cardio and KB swing warmup.

I really need to condense my workout schedule so that this squeezes into a 4 day lifting schedule every other week, rather than having it as one of 3 lifting days. Her program is based on 5 days lifting, which is too much for me, recovery-wise as well as schedule-wise, but these circuits are not enough to stand alone. So I need to figure that out.

It was -9F this morning when I woke up, and is not expected to hit 0° until noon. It’s been this way all week, so I haven’t been walking the dog. I miss it, or perhaps more accurately miss the way I feel when I do it. I’m planning to bundle up and go in a little bit, but who knows how far I’ll make it.

Weight is down a tiny bit, but I had wine last night, so it’s probably dehydration.

I am a big fan of this Chinese Food, Ice Cream and red wine weight loss diet you have discovered and feel as though you need to market it while the conditions are right!
