I have long arms, so much so that even with a moderate grip, I find that my elbows invariably brush somewhere on my thighs when I get down into a safely legal depth. I really try to keep my damn elbows back, but it just seems to be the way I’m built I know contact between the elbows and the thighs is grounds for disqualification, though USAPL adds that “Slight contact is permitted if there is no supporting that might aid the lifter.” I’m certainly not getting any help from this contact; as I said, it’s merely a brush. But I do worry about getting disqualified. I have not competed yet, but hope to do so some time over the next year, and my goal is to go 9 for 9. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, has it caused you problems in meets?
As always, thanks in advance, and thanks to everyone who contributes here.

I think the recent top deadlifter in the usapl 93 kg class does this. I forget his name but his squat looks strange and his his thighs.
Isn’t the rule for like when guys smash their elbows into their thighs really hard like. Brushing will be fine. If it bothers you maybe try gripping wider?
