I hear it is ok to put raw egg beaters in your protein shakes because it is already pasteurized and because of this, there is no risk of getting sick. Is this true?
I’ve been adding pasteurized egg whites to my shakes for the past few months and have loved doing so. Not only does it beef up of the protein amount and provide a different source of protein but I find the egg whites give the shake a thicker, smoother consistency.
Wal-Mart carries a brand called “All Whites” they work pretty well.
Then again, so do just plain raw eggs.
I do both.

You’re not going to get sick if you drink raw eggs,as long as they’re coming from healthy hens(organic/free-range).
One person out of a million might get stomach cramps if they do get sick, but nothing serious.
I drink raw egg yolks daily and have since I was 15.
I’ve not once gotten sick.
Raw eggs making you sick is as much of a myth as is the raw milk myth.

I agreee for the most part and the main reason (hear say) that ppl got sick in the past was not the content of the Egg but not cleaning the shell first and well consuming uncooked chicken POOOP. So if worried clean the egg shell again prior.
I dont use raw eggs on a regular basis but never had a prob. Oh and the OG ? yes thats fine.

IMO - cooked eggs taste better. Also- why put raw eggs in your protein shake? There’s already enough protein in there for any given meal (~40g). If you’re trying to make a weight gainer, it’s not necessary. Just get your daily protein needs divided up into 6 meals, so at the most maybe 50g per meal would be needed.

Because it is a different form of protein.

A hardass eats the shell.

Still doesn’t explain why eat them raw? Again- if you’re going to ingest the protein why not have it in a form that is enjoyable? Isn’t that the reason why we buy Biotest products instead of junk at GNC? Biotest’s protein tastes better. (yes it’s better quality protein too, but for sake of my argument I’m choosing to ignore that)

Eggs perhaps have the complete amino profile something that whey doesnt have? ![]()

Do they not have that same profile in a scrambled version? ![]()

I had the same thoughts once.
That is, until I tried the “Turtle Shake,” as provided in (I believe) the second installment of the Dave Tate Project.
With the egg beaters, it is the highlight of my day. Without the egg beaters, it tastes like a watery mess of junk.

How do you make this turtle shake?

I think he is trying to say that eggs have a higher absorption rate.

You mean higher absortion raw vs. cooked? Maybe. But is it really high enough to make a difference?
Am I the only one in this thread who likes their eggs cooked? Maybe it’s my issue. I don’t like raw fish either.

You seem to be incapable of being wrong. Let me try to explain why your raw vs. cooked means nothing here. He is talking about adding them to a shake. He is doing it for convenience sake–not for taste or 2% more or less absorption. He is doing it because it is convenient and a different type protein profile. He is talking about adding egg beaters or another such egg white product or pasturized whole egg product. He is not talking about raw in the pure sense.
And just for the hell of it. I like my eggs cooked—but not when I add them to my shake.

I didn’t know any Biotest products contained egg albumin?? Then again, I only expect regurgitation out of your posts anyway.
