Heya T-freques. I plan on starting my MAG-10/EDT cycle next week, however I do not possess machines nor a chin-up bar. Whatchoo suckas suggest as far as exercise selection in the palce of chins? (I’m thinking bent rows) and the machine protocols? THanks. Lata.
I wouldn’t substitute horizontal pulling for vertical pulling. There’s gotta be SOME place around where you can do chins, even if you’re hanging off of a tree branch or something. Get creative! [Aside to the Forum: I’ve always wanted to tell MBE to get creative…] As one idea, if you go buy a piece of thick rope, you could always loop it over something and do rope chins. Work your forearms at the same time.
Thanks T-friends. Char you ass, I shall be vindicated for that. Though Ko seems to want to try a new recipe out on you. Literally. Yeah, the chin-up bar dillema has been bothering me for a long time. Unfortunately, the walls in this place have balsa wood strength, and I would not want to risk setting up a bar in a doorway. As innovative as I pride myself on being, the quest is fruitless. So in terms of EDT, I’m thinking underhand-grip rows w/ either barbell or my Powerblocks (which one you think would be better?) and possible Hammer pulls as the second exercise. My biggest concern are that these movements are too similar. Whatcha’ll think? Thanks Freques. Lata.

MBE, There is a door mounted chinning bar called the “door gym” manufactured by Creative Fitness. It is strong enough for gravity boots and requires NO hardware to be attached to your doors. 250# men can do chins on it. Check it out, it may be your ticket.
Monkeyboy, you can’t be serious. You’re telling me you can’t find someplace to do chins? No tree limbs? No rafters? No steps? No roof overhangs? No playground pipes? Bro, I’ve done chins in a dozen places including the above. And I do have one of those removable chin up bars for my door. It works great! So I suggest getting one. I got mine from Champs Sports for $30. It has a variety of grips so you can do close-, medium- and wide-grip chins with a pronated, semi-supinated or supinated grip! So get up on it! And don’t forget the rowing!
Thanks T-mofos. V2, I ordered one of those Creative Fitness deals last night. Thanks for the link. To the rest of all ya’ll, I’m happy you’ve all been given the opportunity to playfully patronize me. Anyhows, I’m fucking sore right now after my second day of the MAG-10/EDT project. I’m taking in about 320 grams of protein a day w/ around 250 carbs. Chicken burritos give me gas. Lata.
If you coulnt get any where to chin and you was loking for a vertical movement you could try a decline pullover, then have rows for your your horizontal movement. the only done side is loss of bicep involvement.
