EDT, Escalating Density Training

www.staleytraining.com

Just found this -

Its just the kind of shock my training needs - something very different.

Been doing it for two weeks -

Very very tiring, in a good way.

Supposedly will get gains if I eat right - lets see in two more weeks.

Anyone else try this ?

Sounds interesting. Could you post your routine?

Meta,

My wife just started an EDT routine (only two WOs in). She likes it because you keep moving from exercise to exercise and you only need to concentrate on a handful of exercises.

EDT has just recently come up as a topic of conversation on this board. I suggested it to another regular poster on this blog (Bunny).

It would be great if you listed your routines and what type of progress you make.

Sure - I am only on it for two weeks and did literally just three sets so far - so no progress to note - but I am focusing on ARMS here and am adding these workouts to my base training of a more traditional method. Only I de-emphasize ARMs in the regular training.

That said - my routine is
one 15 min PR zone, and one 10 min PR zone, arms and back

15 minute PR zone of

Dumbbell Hammer curl, 5 reps, of 35 lbs (both arms going)
then
Dumbbell shoulder press, 5 reps of 30 lbs (both arms going)

This set of antagonistic moves is repeated back to back for 15 minutes, where you write down how may sets of 5 you did.

If you need to - you move to sets of 4, or 3, or 2 or 1.

I ended up with a total of 15 sets of 5, then slid down hill to sets of 4,3, then 2 - then time ran out.

I follow this 15 minute PR zone with a 10 min PR zone for back - left and right arm dumbbell rows (55lbs), 5 reps each for 10 min total like above.

You pick a starting weight of what you could do 10 reps with. I started a tad lower since I heard this could get you real sore right away so 35 and 30 worked well for me.

EDT is a very effective program! If you’re interested, here is the link for when I started EDT.

Good luck, and you will see gains.
