You know what? You should go down there and get tested today, just to have a baseline. And to be make sure it’s nothing serious. THEN if there’s a problem, it will probably be OK for you to see how you can treat it with cardio or dietary changes before trying meds.
Does your heart sort of race for a few beats? I have had that happen to me a couple of times, and it’s really disconcerting.

I was born with a heart murmur, and it is still evident, so an irregular HB is normal for me…a bout a month ago, I woke up with a fluttering heart (for lack of a better term), but went to the gym and later in the day, it went away…I paid no attention, cause I didn’t feel lightheaded or weak.
but lately, it feels like my heart beats like a drum in my chest…not all the time, but when it does act up, it is kinda concerning. when that happens, I start to get a slight headache, that’s what makes me think that it may be hypertension.
thanks for the advice, PuffyDear…I don’t think a few weeks will make too much of a difference, and anyways…it could be all in my head, ya’know?

The thing the people who have high bp , that I know, all have in common is stress. Usually the stress comes not from their lives but from an inability to let things go that they can’t change. That’s just what I’ve observed with family and friends with this problem.
