again, I credit this to the fact that I trained, had an athletic physique and I honestly believe that people are attracted to this type of person. I am by no means good looking, and that also makes me less threatening. people like to have me around.
I like having you around because you’re funny and sweet. (I had to edit this it looked funny)
Okay and maybe the muscles and the freckles!
Sweet! That is pretty awesome about your life. I am sure your family is happy for you. Even though I am fat and sloppy I don’t think I could go without lifting.
Edgy - You have a great story. I have no doubt that your training helped you to stay focused, and also gave you the fortitude to do hard things. It’s obvious that you are a genuinely nice person and I’m sure that didn’t hurt either. The C student from the working class family turned out pretty well.
Your story, and what you told us about your family background, reminds me a little of my dad, who is one of my favorite people. High school education. He was a journeyman electrician. IBEW. (I got all my dirty jokes from him! LOL!) Anyway, later in his career got more involved with the union administration, although that brought some disillusionment because he got to see some of the BAD side of it, too. Now he’s retired but is a county commissioner in the rural New Mexico country where I grew up. He got frustrated that they weren’t maintaining some of the ranch roads and so he decided to do something about it, which is how he got involved in politics. He’s a great guy, and is loved by a lot of people in that little town. He even made the TV news last year for being the ONLY county commissioner who didn’t use public funds to attend a bunch of conferences/ charge personal expenses on trips, and he’s exposed a couple of scandals that involved fraud and misuse of funds. We are so proud of him. He just got appointed to a special council by the governor.

And, again thanks for the long explanation.
I owe so much to my brother for bringing home that shitty weight set. And believe it or not, success is not celebrated in my family, it only leads to jealousy. Sucks, but thats what it is. I always have to downplay any accomplishments or it just leads to an argument.

that’s an awesome story about your Pops! integrity is something that is sooooo lacking today. Its refreshing when you find someone you can believe in.
and the disillusionment about politics? Yep…happened to me too. I don’t even vote anymore.

and really, Chrissy…I’m glad you asked~
It sucks that jealousy is a problem in your family. I usually brag about my little sister, who’s a tough little paramedic. If you were my bro I would totally brag about you.

Shit…in my family…small success equals weekend of partying. You should join my family, I’d be glad to have you.

Crazy, kinda…I guess. Just normal for us, I suppose.
Warmup, then Standing Military presses
155 x 10-7 x 5 sets - I wanted 175, but my joints were giving me fits…thought it prudent to back off, ya’know?
Standing 1 arm DB upright rows - 60’s x 10 x 4 sets
seated OH DB presses - 70’s x 10 x 4 sets
reverse Flys - 45’s x 9 x 4 sets
Shrugs - DB - 110’s x 15 x 4 sets
Thursday - Squats
warmup then 225 x 8-5 x 8 sets - I wanted 275, but was having a twinge in my lower back, and decided to stick with some reps
Ham curls on the machine
Leg press for reps
Calves on the machine
Got some chest work in on Saturday…
my 3 x 8 isnt working lately, I don’t have the strengh/stamina for it, I think I need to rethink my program.
but, I did do:
245 x 7 x 6 sets
DB BP - 90’s x 10-7-5
pec-dec for reps
then some tri work, threw in some weighted dips this time to mix things up a little
Back on Sunday
close grip cable rows - 5 sets
Pendelays - 225 x 7 x 6 sets
then went to Bi’s
EZ curls, hammer curlz -
outta there.
worked on the jeep a little should have it running soon, hopefully.
my heart has been thumping in my chest alot lately, and I’ve had a dull headache.
I’ve had been tested for high blood pressure, and have always done some cardio, and that seems to keep it at bay, but I hate cardio, and haven’t done it for a while.
my bad.
anyway…in reviewing my program, I am forced to include cardio…I’ll give it a few weeks then get tested. I don’t want to rush down today to get checked…the first thing that they’re gonna wanna do is put me on meds.
I don’t want to be on meds, if I can control it with cardio.
anyway…I have that thumping heart thing alot lately…hope I don’t stroke out.
If I quit posting for any lenght of time…someone check on me! JK~
You know what? You should go down there and get tested today, just to have a baseline. And to be make sure it’s nothing serious. THEN if there’s a problem, it will probably be OK for you to see how you can treat it with cardio or dietary changes before trying meds.
Does your heart sort of race for a few beats? I have had that happen to me a couple of times, and it’s really disconcerting.
