Right now I am still in the making the gym a habit stage so taking time away would be too easy for me. When you mean time away do you mean not lifting at all? If so you could do a 5/3/1 style deload (where you lift 40%/50%/60% of your 90% for 5 reps) that way you can still go to the gym while giving the muscles a rest.
Is the viking bigger now, after his rest? 0_0
yeah, bigger. Feels like it anyways.
and, I don’t de-load. I’m old school. When I take time away from the gym, it is ALL away. this lights me up for another program, and lets my joints heal from the last program.
It’s worked for me for years.
I guess when it’s a habit, you can get away with leaving for a week.
When I grow up I wan to be just like Edgy. : )
What do vikings do to keep themselves occupied when they aren’t in the gym?

Thanks for the niceness up there^
Have you ever done 5/3/1???
I bought the book, but never went through with it. there’s sound principles in there and I agree with it, but it kinda locks you in for a year or so, and I like to change up my program from time to time to keep from being bored.

It doesn’t lock you up for a year, only as long as you allow it, same as any other routine.
Kill your shoulders. Like, seriously destroy them to where you can’t lift your arms tomorrow! Then…SQUAT!
But I still keep the compounds the same, somewhat, so I can keep track of progress. Other than that, it’s whatever. I do keep a log and like a nerd write down my stuff at the gym…that way they next week I can BEAT THE LOG!! or at least try in some way. 1 more rep, 1 more lb…whatever.
I did 2 cardio sessions today…catch me if you can!!
