Edgy: Alone With My Friends

^Well if by sophisticated you mean I hang a pinky out. Ummmmm no.

Hi just a short report this time.

I did 3s on bench last night. my best was 100 for 8 reps(that’s 5 more than last month!)

Also yep did my sprints, all out for 3 lol.

nice job in the benching Charlie

Way to go Charles. Some damn fine work.

HOLY HELL charlie, that’s awesome! 5 more in a month is fantastic progress, good work!

Thanks guys I really think it was working on my set up to the bench(as in getting into position then unracking it/pulling it out instead of pushing it up) that has made a big difference.

The rack that holds the bar is slanted up and away from the bench so I just have to roll the bar up an inch or so then pull out over the lip. Especially easy if I flex the lats.

Heavy singles next week. 35s you are MINE!!! 0_o

go Charlie!!

Nice work on those Dl’s. Looked fairly easy. You using sumo?

Didn’t have a hangover but was quite a bit foggy Sat. morn.

Forgot my numbers this morning. Will post later when I get home.

Hey guys. Out of curiosity Edgy why the sumos? I’m a conventional gal so I was just wondering.

Poor doggy was foggy, see that’s why dogs should only drink beer, so they don’t drink as much. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have been doing my sprints and some step downs and ss cardio while working.

[edit] and I “liked” your vid on youtube. Do you think you could handle heavier? I can’t do lots of reps on dls so I don’t always think some weight that poops me out at three is close to a real 3 rep max. If you know what I mean. lol

^Don’t I usually give you a chuckle or 2 when the Vodka is running through my veins?

here’s the long story…

I started doing deads, conventional w/ alternating grip when I was 23-24. I had a great partner, who was all of 5’5", and built like a dump truck. he taught me proper form, etc - but I weighed all of 180 lbs, and at 6’ - that was skin and bones. this dude taught me all about diet, nutrition, carb timing, all before it was fashionable…anyways, work - marriages - life …you know the drill.

fast forward 5 years, I got me a new training partner, a strong hard-headed portugee - I taught him the proper form in deads, and as you would expect, it became a challenge every week to out do each other until…>>SNAP<<<

I spent the next ten years in a Chiroprcters office, off and on, getting adjustments, getting hurt again etc…

then, one day I was talking with a trainer freind, and he and I figgered out that what I had was a soft tissue injury…pulled muscle and the best way to combat the pain, is to work through it, make it stronger.

so, about 5 years ago, I started doing DL again. conventional, alternated grip as ususal. and could not get any significant numbers without spending the next 2 weeks sitting on an ice pack, and popping advils.

then, an old timer that I had known a long time (power lifter in his 60’s), was watching me dead, came up to me, and told me that my mechanics are all wrong for this lift, legs are too long, torso is too short, and suggested that I do sumos.

he showed me how to do them, brought in some articles the next day, and I’ve been doing them ever since.

no back pain, whatsoever.

on the odd occasion that I do a conventional DL, I spend the next 2 weeks alternating heat and ice on my back and popping advils again.

so, it’ll be sumos for me for the rest of my life.

Ahh yeah I was reading up on the dls and sumos do use the back less than convo. I’ve tried the sumos but can’t seem to get the rhythm down. Practice I guess. I have been checking out Maschy’s vids on youtube and she seems to pull sumos at the end of a convo session.

Only a weekend warrior? Is that because viking is the day job?

Maschy pulls sumos cause it strengthens her wimman-grip on her mommy parts.

and, Raping Pillaging and Plundering takes up a lot of my working day - sillygurl~

I’m getting serious about drinking water again, if I can down 3 of these during the day, and one at night, then I’ll be hitting a gallon again - i think that’s good, right?

2nd one today. Water is good. But you pee like a race horse all day long!
