That’s a lot to ask of a super heavyweight, even a pro.
As I’m typing my reponse, I’m internally yelling at myself for even discussing the outcome of such a ridiculous event, haha.
I want at least one bloody nose, or I’m gonna feel gyped!!!
Also, yes - I was watching this and thinking “more people are watching this event than have EVER watched ANYTHING strongman-related in history”. I’d say, just one dude, on camera in front of hundreds of millions of viewers across 180 countries, with a MUST-MAKE lift, is 210193048913x more pressure than anything else.
Considering Eddie’s nose bleeds when he tries hard at stuff, and considering the massive amount of strain their hearts must be under on any given day, I’d say we’re guaranteed some damage - I just hope it’s not in the form of an exploding heart.
I’d be shocked if they go any more than two minute rounds.
My guess would be something like 3 rounds, 2 minutes each, standing 8 counts.
Hamburgers during both breaks, and a nap before round 3, and you’ve got yourself a match.
Do we know what the viewership was?
The Rogue Livestream and the recap video was 2.1 million and Thor’s video is 400k.
Having married an islander, I have been informed that just because you put pineapple on something doesn’t make it Hawaiian.
That said, I enjoy pineapple on pizza, but also recognize it’s controversy.
Speaking of controversy, wanna know a fake one? This boxing match.
But also not unprecedented. Misha fought Fedor’s brother a few months back. It went about as expected.
I used to know a guy who bled from his nose every time he bent over - said it was the anadrol he was taking.
Hyperbole aside, are you counting ESPN?
When I went looking for ESPN ratings all I found was athlete ratings and articles about The Last Dance. I don’t even know where else it was broadcast?
That’s all I had read, may have skewed what I was imagining the viewership was. With no other sports on TV though, I would imagine this would still get all-time viewership.
From Big Loz. An actual, objective, perspective. (unlike Oberst lol)
TL;DW It is 99.9% about money. The beef between Eddie and Thor is genuine. (3:08)
I believe they have beef. I also believe this “fight” will end in a tie, that they capitalized on said beef for hype around the record, and both are going to walk away from this much, much wealthier.
I honestly disliked most of this prior to the fight or whatever, but I’m pretty bummed about the way boxing and strongman has gone in the past few years because of shit like this.
It’s very depressing to hear a guy who is well over six feet tall call himself short.
Apparently compared to his brothers he’s the short one lol
LOL. I think it might be even more boring than listening to Buffet speak. Eddie is a slow moving target, and honestly doesn’t exhibit much athleticism.
I wanna talk about how lucrative internet drama can be but I’d piss this guy off:
No, wait, I’m not an ‘insider’ so I can.
Seriously, I’d love to see the fight.
The marketing leading up to it could be really interesting. Go tie up with some UFC personalities, coaches etc plus the popular powerlifting personalities. Make collaborative videos. Reality vlogs. Lots of trash talking. Product placement. Lots of possibilities.
Thor and Hulk Hogan
vs
Eddie Hall and Mr T
I pity the fool who isn’t excited by this.
